Product Manager

Normal Computing Corporation•New York City, NY

About The Position

Normal Computing is an applied AI company building foundational hardware and software for the semiconductor industry and critical AI infrastructure. The Product Manager will work with the Product Lead and engineering teams to build AI systems and an autoresearch platform for the ASIC team, supporting the tapeout of unconventional, physics-based architectures. The platform will automate research across the design space, generate candidate architectures, evaluate them at appropriate levels of fidelity, and incorporate learnings from hardware-lab experiments and deployed silicon into future chip generations. Areas of exploration include RTL optimization, design verification, and continual learning from experiment results. This is an early-career, hands-on building role. The Product Manager will help determine what to build and be accountable for delivering incremental milestones toward tapeout. Work may include collaborating with chip architects on architecture benchmarks, observing verification debugging to identify automation opportunities, defining requirements and success criteria for custom EDA tools, and prototyping experiment dashboards. The role involves writing specifications, running experiments, and using coding agents to prototype and implement fixes. Semiconductor experience is not required to start; early success means understanding how the team works, asking useful questions in design discussions, and reliably delivering on commitments. Normal Computing works across New York City, Mountain View, London, Copenhagen, and Seoul. The company is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

  • A degree in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, or a similar field, or equivalent self-taught knowledge.
  • 1–3 years of experience in product management, engineering, research, technical program management, or a related technical role.
  • Evidence of taking an idea and making it real.
  • Fluency with coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar tools.
  • Experience building or evaluating LLM-powered products.
  • Clear verbal and written communication.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and framing vague problems into proposals.
  • Interest in how chips are designed.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework, research, or internship experience in chip architectures, digital design, verification, or hardware performance modeling.
  • Exposure to SystemVerilog.
  • Familiarity with the mechanisms underlying LLM inference.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate where the ASIC team's time is spent and determine which AI tools to build; be accountable for whether the tools are adopted.
  • Write requirements documents and user journeys for engineering, and build prototypes when they communicate an idea more effectively than a document.
  • Work with engineers to turn promising prototypes into dependable tools for the ASIC team.
  • Use coding agents to work in the codebase, open pull requests for bug fixes or UI changes, learn from engineering code reviews, and develop judgment about which changes to make.
  • Help deliver incremental milestones toward tapeout.
  • Run experiments and collaborate with chip architects, verification engineers, and other technical teammates to identify product and automation opportunities.
