The Future Forward Product Manager will manage Future Forward products across the entire product lifecycle. This role involves developing and conducting market and user research, making product proposals, writing product requirements, and leading the product through development, design, and launch stages. Responsibilities include product business & strategic modeling, product user needs & requirements management, market research, customer interaction, forecasting, pricing, competitive analysis, and new product proposals. The role requires the ability to frame these efforts by surgical specialty and product technology. In the first year, the Product Manager will assist in managing the Future Forward product roadmap and lifecycle in alignment with Intuitive portfolio objectives, develop business justification for recommendations and gain alignment across key stakeholders on project prioritization, and develop the business justification for new products and features by working with customers and company stakeholders. They will also develop business analyses, including competitive assessments, to facilitate sound data-driven decision making, and use qualitative and quantitative market research methods and direct customer interviews and observations to develop insights that inform the product roadmap. Refinement of requirements with feedback from customers, clinical sales, and clinical development engineering is also a key part of the role. The Product Manager will lead cross-functional product teams including engineering, sales, and marketing to execute against the product plan and represent product management in the product development process, completing deliverables such as market requirements and product requirements documents and facilitating tradeoff discussions with design teams while keeping the needs of the customer and the business in mind. Engagement with Human Factors and Interaction Design partners during the development process includes establishing design requirements, prioritizing design efforts, coordinating design reviews, and documenting and communicating design decisions. Conveying product value proposition to global marketing for global product positioning and messaging, and measuring product success by monitoring product adoption and seeking post-launch product feedback are also expected. A deep understanding of the surgical treatments for applicable indications, including monitoring and consuming clinical literature, attending medical society meetings, and engaging with physician key opinion leaders (KOLs) is crucial. Collaboratively developing global product commercialization plans with regional marketing and commercial teams, and understanding competitive, emerging, and complementary technology and its potential impact on Intuitive’s product lines are also part of the role. The Product Manager will work with the product engineering and business development teams to evaluate new technologies and prioritize the new business development pipeline, monitor and prioritize product quality issues, and work on cross-functional teams to resolve product issues and critical customer issues. Additional activities across the product lifecycle as needed include participating in product education program development and supporting sustaining product activities including end of life.
