About The Position

Sherpa 6 is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled professional to support mission-critical systems and operational technology initiatives in support of the USSOCOM Program Executive Office Tactical Information Systems (PEO-TIS) across the SOF Tactical Communications (STC), Field Computing Device–Wearable (FCD-W), and Watchtower programs. This on-site role combines technical product management, advanced systems integration, and Tier III technical support responsibilities to support Department of Defense (DoD) operations and tactical communications environments. The ideal candidate will serve as both a customer-facing technical expert and operational integrator, supporting software platforms, mobile device management (MDM) systems, tactical communications infrastructure, and enterprise networked environments. This position requires a hands-on problem solver who thrives in fast-paced operational settings and can independently manage complex technical challenges while coordinating closely with product teams and government stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Technical Product Management, Systems Engineering, Help Desk Tier III Support, or related technical operations roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong understanding of: VMware vSphere, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Network architecture and design, Software design patterns and architectural principles, Firewalls, ports, protocols, VPNs, and DNS, PKI, x509 certificates, and certificate authorities, Tactical communications or mission command systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex systems in operational or enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with the Android Operating system and mobile device management technologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft desktop/server environments and cloud infrastructure concepts.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced mission environments.
  • Active Secret Clearance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting USSOCOM, DoD, or tactical communications programs.
  • Familiarity with TAK and Mission Command Systems.
  • Linux administration experience.
  • Docker and containerized application experience.
  • Ansible automation experience.
  • PostgreSQL database administration and CLI management.
  • Experience reviewing logs, scripting, and operational troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting onsite government customers in secure operational environments.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the onsite Technical Product Manager and Tier III Technical SME supporting mission-critical DoD systems and applications.
  • Design, integrate, and support system architectures across tactical and enterprise environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software, network, server, and hardware issues across Windows, Linux, Android, and iOS platforms.
  • Support Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions for both DoD and commercial environments.
  • Provide direct customer engagement, technical guidance, and operational support to government stakeholders.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain virtualized environments using Hyper-V and VirtualBox.
  • Support tactical communications and mobile systems integration activities.
  • Manage and maintain infrastructure services including Active Directory, OpenLDAP, OpenVPN, Email Servers, PKI Infrastructure & certificate lifecycle management.
  • Apply and validate DISA STIG configurations across supported systems.
  • Capture bug reports, perform root cause analysis, and communicate issues and feature requests to software product owners.
  • Build and maintain demonstration, test, and operational environments for customer training and onboarding.
  • Support onsite installations, fielding efforts, operational exercises, and customer training events.
  • Utilize tools such as Git, JIRA, or Trello to coordinate development and operational support activities.
  • Assist with deployment and troubleshooting of containerized services and cloud-based infrastructure.
