About The Position

Countable Labs is seeking a Product Manager, Product Marketing (Associate Director/Director) to own both the commercial strategy and product roadmap for the Countable PCR platform. This is a rare hybrid role for someone who can operate across the full arc—from instrument and software development through market-facing messaging, campaign execution, and field enablement—without losing precision in either domain. Working closely with Commercial Marketing, R&D, Sales, Operations, and executive leadership, you will help shape the future of the Countable PCR platform—from product concept and development through launch, adoption, and growth. The ideal candidate combines deep technical understanding of molecular biology and PCR technologies with strong commercial instincts. They are equally comfortable defining product requirements with scientists and engineers, developing market strategy, and crafting compelling messaging that resonates with researchers, biopharma partners, and clinical customers.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of combined experience in product management, product marketing, or commercial applications roles within molecular diagnostics, life sciences tools, or assay development.
  • Direct experience supporting research or commercial applications in cell and gene therapy, bioprocessing, biopharma drug development, or QC.
  • Fluency in PCR-based technologies and competitive landscape (qPCR, ddPCR, NGS).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop technically rigorous content and market-facing messaging for a scientifically sophisticated audience.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills — comfortable moving between R&D, commercial, and customer audience.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to context switch and manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel 10–20% for partner collaborations, customer visits, and conferences (including internationally).

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or equivalent business training.
  • Hands-on experience with life sciences instrument and software platform development from an end-to-end user perspective.
  • Familiarity with software data analysis, reporting, and visualization in the context of molecular techniques (NGS, PCR).
  • Experience with clinical diagnostics regulatory considerations (IVD, LDTs, CLIA labs).
  • Prior experience in a hybrid product/marketing role or demonstrated success bridging both functions.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end product roadmap for Countable PCR instrument systems (writing and managing user needs and product requirements for instrument, SW, reagents and assays)—from early concept, beta testing and prioritization through development, launch, and lifecycle management.
  • Lead voice-of-customer initiatives and market research programs to inform roadmap prioritization and product strategy. Define and maintain product requirements grounded in customer needs, market trends, and competitive insights.
  • Partner with program management, R&D scientists, and engineers to support the product development process (PDP), ensuring on-time, high-quality launches.
  • Lead forecasting, pricing, and margin analysis across new product introductions (NPIs) and sustaining platforms, in collaboration with finance and commercial leadership.
  • Collaborate with quality and operations to ensure compliance, scalability, and reliable supply-chain across different system components.
  • Drive go-to-market strategy and positioning across market segments, ensuring clear, differentiated messaging aligned to the product roadmap. Develop and maintain segment-specific messaging frameworks for CGT (viral vector QC, gene editing, CAR-T/AAV manufacturing) and clinical oncology (MRD monitoring, liquid biopsy, ctDNA).
  • Build and maintain a sales enablement library: pitch decks, ROI calculators, application-specific one-pagers, demo scripts, and competitive battlecards.
  • Develop field-facing training content including software demo videos, training datasets, and application notes.
  • Support commercial training on product positioning, competitive landscape, and application storytelling; build battlecards and objection-handling tools for the sales team.
  • Build and define market-driven pricing and early access programs (e.g., rental or reagent-rental models) as needed.
  • Create high-quality technical content: application notes, white papers, case studies, conference posters, presentations, and peer-reviewed publication support.
  • Partner with KOLs and external collaborators to develop credible, scientifically grounded thought leadership.
  • Partner with product and marketing teams on conference strategy and execution for ASGCT, AACR, ESGT, and EHA—from abstract submission through booth messaging and post-event nurture campaigns.
  • Collaborate on digital campaigns (email, LinkedIn, Google Ads, webinars) targeting CGT and oncology researchers, process development scientists, and QC managers.
  • Deliver external-facing presentations including webinars, conference talks, and customer-facing demos.
