This role is for an IT Product Manager – Merchandising Pricing, Promotions & Markdown. The ideal candidate is an experienced product owner in complex retail environments with a deep understanding of retail merchandising, specifically in pricing and promotions business processes and systems. They should be skilled at leading cross-functional initiatives from concept to launch, including stakeholder management, planning, and effort estimation. A collaborative partner to engineering, platform, and business teams, they must demonstrate the ability to think big, own outcomes, and influence across all levels of the organization. The role requires taking clear direction from leadership and driving execution through team collaboration, while also being self-directed with strong ability to prioritize time across competing demands. The Product Manager will own the strategy, roadmap, and hands-on execution for Retail Pricing and Promotions technology products at BJ’s, driving alignment across Merchandising, ERP, Marketing, Finance, and Analytics. They will use data-driven insights to optimize technology contributions to pricing and promotions performance and deliver measurable business value. The role is expected to manage multiple concurrent projects, acting as Product Manager, Scrum Master, and QA lead across workstreams as needed.

Requirements

  • Proven product management experience in retail technology
  • BA/BS in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field
  • 8+ years managing Pricing and Promotions technology products, including active ownership of a product backlog
  • Experience with one or more industry-leading solutions — Revionics, McKinsey Periscope, SAP, RELEX, or o9 — preferred
  • Agile methodology experience preferred; Jira, Confluence, and Kanban experience a plus
  • Strong data analysis and structured decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; effective cross-functional collaborator
  • Strong prioritization, time management, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable managing ambiguity and driving organizational change
  • Strategic thinker with an enterprise mindset — delivers value beyond immediate team scope

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap for Pricing, Promotions, and Markdown technology
  • Act as hands-on PM across project teams — gather requirements, define and prioritize the backlog, lead agile ceremonies, execute testing and demos, and maintain backlog health
  • Manage multiple concurrent initiatives simultaneously — owning product delivery, facilitating agile ceremonies, and leading QA execution across workstreams
  • Create and distribute clear, concise status reports to stakeholders and leadership on a regular cadence
  • Align technology investments with business strategy across Merchandising, Finance, Marketing, and Analytics
  • Identify process and technology improvement opportunities through data analysis and stakeholder engagement
  • Lead development, deployment, and optimization of Pricing and Promotion technology products
  • Partner with third-party service providers — provide feedback, govern delivery, and lead support team coordination
  • Define and track KPIs for product adoption, performance, and business impact
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to enhance pricing and promotions capabilities
  • Lead the team in alignment with business strategy, roadmap priorities, and platform governance
