About The Position

We are building the next generation of data security for the AI and hybrid cloud era. As enterprises adopt AI and manage data across on-prem and public cloud environments, understanding and protecting sensitive data has become one of the most critical challenges in technology. The Data Security Platform team within NetApp is solving this problem at scale—combining cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and intelligent automation into a unified product used by global enterprises. This team operates at the intersection of engineering, strategy, and customer impact. You will gain exposure to real enterprise systems, collaborate directly with engineers and designers, and see how technical decisions translate into business outcomes. For students interested in product management, this is an opportunity to work on meaningful problems that sit at the core of modern data and AI infrastructure. The Opportunity This is a hands-on product internship for someone curious about security, AI, cloud, or enterprise software. You will work directly with a senior product leader and cross-functional teams (engineering, UX, and security) to design and ship a small but meaningful feature within the Data Security Platform. You won’t just “shadow.” You’ll own a scoped initiative and help take it from concept to implementation. What You’ll Work On (Example Summer Project) During the internship, you will own a clearly defined feature within the Data Security Platform. Example areas may include: Identifying a customer pain point and proposing a clear, structured solution Improving a user workflow to make it simpler or more intuitive Analyzing product usage data to uncover insights and recommend improvements Conducting research on market trends or competitive offerings Defining requirements for a small enhancement or new capability By the end of the summer, you will: Deliver a written product brief (problem, user, solution, metrics) Create wireframes or mockups Partner with engineering to define scope Present your work to leadership
