Product Manager II, YouTube Shorts Creation Growth
About The Position
As Product Manager for YouTube Shorts Creation Growth, you will own the product strategy for helping viewers become active creators by making it quick and easy to create on YouTube. The role focuses on turning Shorts viewing into inspiration for original videos, using generative AI to help users move from inspiration to a finished Short, personalizing creation shortcuts in the Shorts feed, introducing AI prompt ideas, and bringing creation tools to new places across the platform. You will drive the product lifecycle from conception through global launch, translating generative AI capabilities into intuitive creative tools and turning technical research into clear product roadmaps. You will work closely with creative engineers, UX designers, AI researchers, and Trust and Safety teams to develop and tailor AI creation tools for YouTube’s global community.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in product management or a related technical role.
- 3 years of experience working cross-functionally with engineering, UX design, and user research teams to define user-facing product requirements and launch features.
- Experience with generative AI products, such as model quality, cost, safety, or performance, or with consumer growth and recommendation systems.
Nice To Haves
- Experience identifying product-market fit, driving consumer growth, and scaling adoption through experimentation and conversion funnels.
- Experience launching generative AI consumer features, such as video or image generation, and personalized recommendation systems.
- Experience launching AI products responsibly in collaboration with Policy, Legal, or Trust and Safety teams.
- Experience using AI productivity tools to streamline individual, business, or development workflows.
- Knowledge of short-form video creation, content remixing, and creative tools such as CapCut or InShot.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end strategy for converting Shorts viewers into creators, including ways to respond to and build on other creators’ videos while respecting the original creator.
- Partner with AI research, engineering, and Trust and Safety teams to improve the quality, speed, safety, and creative controls of AI creation tools in viewing experiences.
- Lead the strategy, ranking, and messaging for personalized creation shortcuts in the Shorts feed, surfacing relevant ideas at an appropriate moment without disrupting viewing.
- Define and launch AI-powered prompt ideas tailored to what someone is watching to help solve the blank-page problem and make creating effortless.
- Develop simple ways to start creating that turn viewers into first-time and repeat creators, using experiments and data to identify successful features across YouTube.
- Guide products through the execution cycle, analyzing, positioning, and tailoring AI creation tools for the global community.
