About The Position

Skylight is hiring an execution-focused Product Manager II to support a U.S. Air Force program office responsible for a portfolio of civil engineering systems serving civil engineering, security forces, and services users. The program is moving toward outcome-driven delivery, with test automation and security integrated into the software pipeline, beginning with migration of the first application to a DoD software factory. The office aims to become a model for other Air Force offices. The Product Manager will organize and advance delivery in partnership with the engagement manager, maintain the product backlog, and help the team transition its backlog and documentation from Jira and Confluence to GitLab and Mattermost. The role also involves translating user and government partner needs into product objectives, measures of success, and roadmap items, facilitating team ceremonies, and transferring digital skills and product knowledge to government teams. The position is contingent on Skylight receiving the underlying contract.

Requirements

  • Understand lean product principles and apply them, including minimum viable product practices, to mitigate risk, validate assumptions, and amplify learning throughout the product life cycle.
  • Develop product strategy based on an understanding of the problem, prioritizing outcomes over features and establishing product direction, roadmap, and success criteria.

  • Collaborate across disciplines, including with researchers, designers, engineers, and others.
  • Manage clients and stakeholders in ways that build trust, alignment, and healthy environments for individuals and teams.

  • Have strong organizational skills and experience keeping deliverables, documentation, and action items on track for an agile software delivery team.
  • Have experience working on cross-functional product, design, engineering, and operations teams in iterative delivery.
  • Have a mindset and work approach aligned with Skylight’s core values.
  • Be a U.S. citizen and able to work within the U.S., excluding U.S. territories.
  • Be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and any special access required for the contract.
  • Successfully complete a company background check.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the engagement manager to organize deliverables, documentation, and schedules so work remains on track and visible to government partners.
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog, write user stories, keep priorities current, and build release plans with the team.
  • Lead the team’s transition from Jira and Confluence to GitLab and Mattermost, maintaining clean configuration, tracking, and documentation.
  • Facilitate team ceremonies, including planning meetings, stakeholder syncs, and retrospectives.
