About The Position

The Product Manager (Hardware) will be responsible for gathering requirements, coordinating releases, monitoring industry trends, and analyzing competitor offerings. This role involves defining target customer segments, collaborating with engineering teams, and ensuring product quality and compliance. The Product Manager will also track key performance indicators, manage the product lifecycle, and maintain supplier and internal stakeholder relationships. Additionally, the role will focus on adopting new technologies like AI to drive product development and category growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to both internal teams and external partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data, identify trends, and support decision-making.
  • Comfortable working with teams across departments to drive results and solve problems.
  • Solid understanding of customer needs with the ability to support strategies that improve satisfaction and product performance.

  • Prior experience in the lighting, building, or construction industries is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with sales, marketing, and customer support to collect and document feature requests, technical specs, and use-case requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate feature releases—defining scope, timelines, and stakeholder communications.
  • Keep abreast of lighting trends (e.g., tunable white, circadian rhythms, human-centric design) and evolving standards (ENERGY STAR®, DLC).
  • Analyze competitor offerings for performance (lumens/W), feature set (connectivity, controls), and pricing to inform positioning.
  • Define target segments (specifiers, contractors, end-users), map their buying criteria, and refine value propositions accordingly.
  • Collaborate with electrical, firmware, and mechanical teams to translate requirements into robust, manufacturable solutions.
  • Coordinate with QA and regulatory teams to ensure UL/CE testing, RoHS, and energy-efficiency certifications are on track.
  • Track KPIs such as sales velocity, backlog, win rates, warranty returns, and channel feedback, then report insights to leadership.
  • Solicit field feedback, analyze product performance (thermal, optical, reliability), and drive continuous improvements or bug fixes.
  • Plan end-of-life timelines, de-commission legacy SKUs, and communicate transitions to customers and partners.
  • Host regular check-ins with end-users to validate roadmap priorities.
  • Maintain strategic relationships with LED chip vendors, driver manufacturers, and optical component partners to secure roadmaps and favorable pricing.
  • Act as product advocate—brief executives, coordinate with marketing on campaigns, and align sales on promotions and incentives.
  • Leverage AI technologies to accelerate product development and overall product category growth.
