About The Position

Higher education runs on data, but this data often resides in disparate systems like CRMs, SIS platforms, LMSs, financial aid systems, and various marketing tools, leading to incomplete information for critical decision-making. Element451 is addressing this challenge by developing data and AI agents that connect the entire student lifecycle. This involves ingesting, syncing, transforming, and activating data across campus systems. The company is seeking a Product Manager to lead key areas including the Data Platform (pipelines, schema management, data quality, infrastructure), the Integrations Ecosystem (native connectors, iPaaS partnerships, webhook frameworks, APIs), and Marketing & Source Data (features for understanding student origins, campaign attribution, source tracking, web analytics, and connecting marketing efforts to enrollment outcomes). These foundational elements are crucial for all other products, and the Product Manager will define the roadmap, support engineering, and simplify customer integration with Element451.

Requirements

  • Experience working on data products.
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT patterns, API design, and webhook reliability.
  • Experience shipping connectors or integration features.
  • Technical proficiency: ability to read API specs, write SQL queries, and understand concepts like REST vs. webhooks vs. event streaming.
  • Systems thinking: ability to understand the impact of changes across downstream features and design for extensibility.
  • Customer focus: ability to engage with IT teams and data administrators.
  • Clear communication skills: strong writing and presentation abilities.
  • Experience in product management or performing product management duties without the formal title.
  • Proven track record of owning outcomes, influencing roadmaps, and driving cross-functional work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in EdTech or higher education SIS and CRM ecosystems (e.g., Slate, Salesforce, Banner, Colleague).
  • Familiarity with iPaaS platforms (e.g., Workato, Boomi, MuleSoft) or experience building on top of them.
  • Background in vertical SaaS where data fidelity is a competitive differentiator.
  • Experience designing or managing public APIs and developer-facing products.

Responsibilities

  • Define the roadmap for the Data Platform, Integrations Ecosystem, and Marketing & Source Data.
  • Unblock engineering teams to facilitate product development.
  • Make it significantly easier for customers to connect Element451 to their existing systems.
  • Own foundational product areas including pipelines, schema management, data quality, infrastructure, native connectors, iPaaS partnerships, webhook frameworks, APIs, campaign attribution, source tracking, and web analytics.
  • Translate customer issues, such as integration sync problems, into actionable product solutions.
  • Communicate clearly and align engineering, design, sales, and executive leadership around a shared product vision, including infrastructure development.
  • Occasionally own features or projects outside the core data and integration focus as part of a lean team.
