Empyrean SolutionsBoston, MA

About The Position

Empyrean Solutions is seeking a Product Manager to own Empyrean ALM, their established asset/liability management platform. This role involves working directly with financial institution professionals to understand their needs in areas like interest rate risk, funds transfer pricing, and ALCO reporting. The focus is on refining an existing, feature-rich product by defining precise requirements, collaborating with the engineering team, and delivering meaningful improvements. The Product Manager will leverage the existing customer base for discovery, validation, and feedback, translating insights into a prioritized roadmap and clear requirements. This strategic role emphasizes problem discovery, solution validation, and outcome-driven product management.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS or enterprise software.
  • Proven track record of shipping complex products that customers use and value.
  • Direct, hands-on customer discovery experience; personally conduct research.
  • Demonstrated strength defining detailed functional requirements for complex, calculation- or data-heavy software.
  • Strong technical aptitude; comfortable discussing system architecture, data models, APIs, and integration patterns with engineering teams.
  • Experience working with enterprise buyers and navigating complex stakeholder environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to set roadmap strategy and make sound prioritization decisions under constraints.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with asset/liability management, interest rate risk, bank/credit union treasury or closely analogous experience in another highly regulated, quantitatively complex industry (e.g., insurance, capital markets, financial-services risk).
  • A grasp of financial accounting concepts (balance sheets, income statements, cashflows, yields, etc.).
  • Familiarity with the Jobs-to-be-Done framework and other structured discovery methodologies.
  • A track record of optimizing and extending a mature, established product.

Responsibilities

  • Use Empyrean’s large ALM customer base and active user community as the primary engine for discovery through interviews, shadowing, and usability testing.
  • Uncover jobs-to-be-done and underlying needs across the full ALM workflow: current-position data and reconciliation, chart of accounts and consolidation, scenario and shock design, NII/EVE and gap analytics, funds transfer pricing, and ALCO and regulatory reporting.
  • Build a deep understanding of how financial institutions manage balance sheet risk, including IRR policy, ALCO cadence, model governance, and examiner expectations.
  • Guide Empyrean ALM up-market by understanding the needs of large, complex tier-1 institutions.
  • Translate learnings into a prioritized, validated roadmap with clear requirements for the engineering team.
  • Own the Empyrean ALM roadmap and backlog end-to-end, from discovery through detailed requirements, delivery, enhancement, and optimization.
  • Write clear, precise functional requirements for complex financial calculations and workflows.
  • Work directly and continuously with the ALM engineering team, including backlog grooming, clarifying requirements, making feature-level trade-offs, and unblocking delivery.
  • Partner with engineering on architecture, data models, and calculation-engine trade-offs, bringing customer and business context.
  • Keep delivery anchored to real customer workflows and use customer/user relationships to validate shipped features.
  • Influence without authority across engineering, sales, customer success, professional services, and executive stakeholders.
  • Communicate the roadmap, priorities, and trade-offs clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate with product marketing and sales on positioning, enablement, and demand generation.
  • Operate within a growing product organization.
  • Use product usage data and continuous user feedback to prioritize enhancements and drive adoption.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce complexity and add value to the user base.
  • Balance new capability development against technical debt, performance, and accuracy/integrity of calculations.

Benefits

  • Additional incentive plans which will be shared during the interview process.
