About The Position

Retool is building the platform that makes it safe to ship custom software built with AI tools. As more people build with more AI tools, the risk of shipping ungoverned software into production grows. Retool provides a platform where developers and domain experts can build and deploy software safely, connecting to business data, enforcing enterprise policies automatically, and reusing components. The platform has already helped automate over 100 million hours of work. The company is looking for a Product Manager to own the expansion and monetization of Retool's AI capabilities within enterprises. This role focuses on driving wider adoption, defining AI usage pricing models, and building spend controls that admins trust. The goal is to make Retool the go-to platform for enterprises to build and run apps, automations, and AI agents.

Requirements

4+ years of product management experience shipping technically complex products with measurable outcomes.
Technical depth to discuss systems like metering pipelines, billing infrastructure, and AI workloads with senior engineers.
Comfort with numbers: ability to build models, analyze product data, and reason about unit economics.
Strong product judgment: ability to form opinions, make decisions, explain reasoning, and adapt based on learning.
Track record of turning ambiguous, cross-functional problems into clear direction and shipped outcomes.
Strong ownership and willingness to stay close to implementation.
Hands-on curiosity about AI, with experience building or experimenting with modern AI tools.

Nice To Haves

Experience in billing, monetization, or enterprise platform products.
Experience moving an adoption or expansion metric through product changes and running experiments.
Experience building usage-based billing, metering, entitlements, or pricing and packaging for a technical product.
Experience building onboarding, admin tooling, sharing, permissions, or spend management for enterprise buyers.
Experience building infrastructure or developer-platform products.
Experience founding or leading a product from an early stage, including making pricing and growth decisions.
Prior experience in AI, billing, or enterprise controls.

Responsibilities

Own the expansion of Retool and its AI capabilities across organizations.
Define and implement monetization strategies for AI usage, including value metrics, packaging, and metering.
Build spend controls and usage policies for AI, such as budgets, limits, and allocation across teams.
Develop enterprise platform features that drive wider adoption, including onboarding, management, and sharing of Retool and AI capabilities.
Set the strategy and roadmap for expansion, monetization, and controls, based on customer evidence, data, and business impact.
Identify and address adoption blockers within organizations, from onboarding to management and sharing.
Collaborate with engineering and design on enterprise platform features.
Work with engineering on billing and control systems, including metering, entitlements, spend controls, usage policies, cost reporting, and upgrade paths.
Partner with data and finance to analyze unit economics and customer behavior.
Engage with enterprise admins, platform owners, and finance leaders to understand their needs for budgeting, governing, and justifying AI spend.
Partner with Sales and Customer Success to identify expansion blockers and translate needs into product capabilities.
Make clear product and commercial tradeoffs.
Define success through outcomes like adoption of Retool and its AI capabilities, expansion revenue, customer spend predictability, and sustainable unit economics.
