About The Position

The Nordstrom Merchandising domain is core to the company's success as a Fashion Retailer. This area focuses on supporting our internal Nordstrom users with technology solutions they need to plan, select, and procure the best products for our customers. In this role, the Product Manager 1 will partner with the Merchandising business and engineering teams to support the development, implementation, and management of innovative Merchandising solutions. The Product Manager 1 is a growing member of the Nordstrom Product Management team, contributing to the customer experience evolution through data-driven insights and delivering key features and functionality for Nordstrom. Product Management is responsible for making sure we build the right products and features for our customers and business. To accomplish that, product managers contribute to product roadmaps, support backlog prioritization, participate in product discovery, and help measure and communicate the results of features in production.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of product management or equivalent experience; technology, retail, or ecommerce experience preferred
  • Foundational ability to define, measure, and analyze processes to identify improvement opportunities
  • Basic technical background and understanding of software development principles, including Agile development and testing methodologies
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to build relationships cross-functionally with teams such as Analytics, Engineering, and User Experience
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills including presenting to various levels within a matrixed organization
  • Eagerness to learn and grow, with an interest in collaborating across diverse teams and technology partners

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to product roadmaps and support feature prioritization based on feedback, user experience, and business objectives, with guidance from senior team members
  • Support the definition and monitoring of success metrics, including OKRs and KPIs, and can articulate a measurement plan for the product area
  • Prioritize the feature backlog and clearly articulate the rationale behind prioritization decisions
  • Execute on tactical plans for delivery of key workstreams in support of the strategic roadmap
  • Support assessment of feature value and success metrics in partnership with business teams
  • Support requirements definition inclusive of wireframes, process flows, user stories, and other supporting artifacts
  • Contribute to go-to-market activities including UAT, communication planning, change management, and post-go-live validations; can articulate success criteria for launches
  • Support ongoing system health and performance by engaging in incident triage and maintenance initiatives, with direction from senior team members
  • Partner with UX, Research, and Engineering on feature design within the squad
  • Work with engineering during feature development to help ensure feature objectives are maintained
  • Support stakeholder communication by providing updates, gathering feedback, and keeping teams informed with support from senior team members
