About The Position

USAA is seeking a Product Management Director (individual contributor) to define and execute the strategy for the firm’s managed investment solutions, including model portfolios, Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs), Unified Managed Accounts (UMAs), and other investment advisory programs and solutions. This leader will own the managed accounts product strategy and roadmap, ensuring a competitive, scalable, and differentiated investment platform that supports member needs, advisor effectiveness, asset growth, and the firm’s broader investment services strategy. The Director will serve as a senior product leader across investment services, financial planning, distribution, technology, operations, risk, legal, and compliance, influencing significant investment and business decisions related to the managed accounts platform. The role involves formulating product/sales strategy recommendations based on analysis of profitability, competitiveness, and sales performance throughout the product life cycle. Responsibilities include compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data to make strategic and tactical recommendations, defining business questions, and providing insights to improve business performance. The role supports the maintenance of existing products and may lead the development and launch of less complex new products with channel partners, managing and prioritizing deliverables using Agile principles. This position is part of the leadership team for ISCO Product Management, reporting to the Head of Product Management for ISCO. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of managed account platforms and investment products, combined with strong product management, technology, analytical, and leadership skills. The role requires being in the office 4 days per week and is based in Plano, TX (preferred) or San Antonio, TX. Relocation assistance is available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Statistics, or related discipline; OR 4 years of related education and/or experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree (Total of 12 years of experience without bachelor’s degree)
  • 8 years of relevant industry experience in Actuary, Underwriting, Marketing or Sales/Service or Finance/Accounting Operations or Financial Services.
  • 3 years of product management, or similar strategic management experience (similar experience includes direct support in managing product performance).
  • 2 years of Data Visualization experience (i.e. Tableau).
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (i.e. FINRA and SEC).
  • Expert experience in creating product briefings and presenting to executive leadership.
  • Experienced in market research to create product roadmap, make product decisions and iterate rapidly.
  • Knowledge of applicable product related regulations, and risk and compliance requirements.

  • 10 or more years of working experience with managed account products including model portfolios, UMA, SMA, and other investment advisory solutions or comparable experience in investment products or wealth management.

Responsibilities

  • Leverages internal and external data and member information to support formulation of product strategy and enhance competitive intelligence.
  • Develop product dashboards and metrics recommendations in support of analyzing and evaluating strategic performance.
  • Partners with Marketing to define go-to-market and value proposition strategy of the product/feature.
  • Develops recommendations to launch new products and the evaluation and decision to buy/build or ally.
  • Acts as product SME on features and services and collaborates with business partners to provide recommendations.
  • Analyzes and evaluates product performance metrics to form recommendations regarding market opportunities and product enhancements.
  • Lead efforts to expand or change existing product features utilizing Agile methodologies to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Contributes to decisions regarding product pricing and profitability.
  • Identifies and evaluates potential providers for alliance relationships.
  • Provides support regarding all aspects of Product Life Cycle.
  • Approves and provides support in developing, editing and distributing product communications.
  • Coordinates with relevant control partners (to include Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management) to ensure product offerings are designed, implemented and managed in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Contributes to the overall strategy of the business and collaborates with alliance to develop product strategy.
  • Interprets performance results to inform product or sales forecast and planning.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
