Product Lead - Diagnostics

Radical NumericsSan Francisco, CA

About The Position

Radical Numerics is an AI research lab building general biological intelligence with the mission to master the code of life and reduce human suffering. The team created Evo, a generative genomics tool, and has been featured in publications like Science and Nature. Radical Numerics applies distributed systems, model architecture, and numerics research to biological challenges, transforming scientific data into generative models. The company is focused on both developing the power to design and the responsibility to defend against potential misuse of AI in biology. In this role, you will own the diagnostics side of the business, identifying funding opportunities within clinical genomics companies, laboratories, and health systems. While the science team owns the core AI model, you will determine what products are built on top of it for clinical use. You will work closely with bioinformatics teams and lab directors, influencing study design to gain their validation. This role involves building prototypes, collaborating with an applications engineer for production product development, and participating in partner meetings. You will be responsible for a commercial target, with an early emphasis on getting partners into production.

Requirements

  • Depth in clinical variant interpretation, including ACMG and AMP criteria, ClinVar and its limitations, VUS reclassification, and understanding the needs of lab directors and genetic counselors.
  • Experience selling into clinical laboratories or diagnostics companies and meeting revenue targets.
  • Working fluency in CLIA, CAP, the laboratory developed test landscape, and understanding analytical validation requirements for software components within an assay.
  • Ability to address objections related to reimbursement, liability, and buyer validation burden.
  • Desire to own revenue and manage long clinical sales cycles.
  • Comfort building prototypes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within a clinical laboratory or a diagnostics company.
  • Experience across both germline and somatic interpretation.
  • Understanding of how new components within existing billable tests are funded.

Responsibilities

  • Decide which interpretation problems to solve, for whom, and the technical prerequisites for clinical organizations to run the output in production.
  • Originate and close partnerships with clinical genomics companies, laboratories, and health systems.
  • Design studies that convert clinical buyers, including blind retrospectives, concordance analysis against existing tools, and reclassification yield on backlogs.
  • Communicate production requirements to the engineering team, including version pinning, provenance, and documentation for quality systems.
  • Identify opportunities requiring new development efforts.
  • Set pricing and structure deals in collaboration with the Head of Product, and lead negotiations with the legal team.
