About The Position

Responsible for providing quality check support to the ready-to-eat processing and packaging lines. This role monitors the quality of WIP and finished products to ensure consistent and safe products that meet company specifications are supplied to our customers.

Requirements

  • High School or Equivalent
  • Basic computer literacy (label making)
  • Understanding and compliance with all GMPs (OJT)
  • Understanding and compliance with all personal safety rules (OJT)
  • Familiarity with HACCP (OJT)
  • Ability to work with other people to accomplish team goals
  • Ability to use discretion/judgment
  • Ability to read weights and count
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Basic reading and verbal communication in English and record numbers
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Attention to quality
  • Must be able to lift at least 35lbs

Responsibilities

  • Ensure meat, dates, tape, labels and other supplies are correct according to product specifications.
  • Pull random samples and perform leaker checks on bags, operating the fish tank to observe the bag for leaks.
  • Record leaker data and inform the machine operator, department leader and Quality Assurance Technician 2/3 if any leakers are discovered.
  • Inspect bags to help eliminate or reduce product waste or rework, inspections may include but are not limited to hourly weight or count checks, oxygen level tests, and printed information verification (such as allergen statements).
  • Raise any quality concerns to the operator, packaging lead or QA Tech 2/3 immediately.
  • Maintain the fish tank and other packaging quality check equipment in a sanitary manner.
  • Record quality data for directed tasks.
  • Perform calibration verification checks of the in-line check weighers.
  • Perform verification checks on the in-line metal and ageless detectors.
  • Gather samples and perform MPR analysis in accordance with written procedures.
  • Gather samples and perform AW (water activity) analysis in accordance with written procedures.
  • Gather samples and perform PH (acidity/ alkalinity) analysis in accordance with written procedures.
  • Ensure sanitary handling procedures in all activities.
  • Inform Management of any Food Safety or Quality issues or of any processes which have become noncompliant with specified requirements.
  • Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Maintain accountability to Oberto Brands Food Safety and Quality Principles.
  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems.
  • The PI Tech is backed up by Packaging Machine Operator or Production Lead.
  • The PI Tech backs up the Packager 1.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
