About The Position
BAE Systems is hiring a Product Focal Lead (PFL) to manage production and field issues related to commercial avionics products within the Controls and Avionics Solution business. The PFL manages component obsolescence, FPGA changes, failure analyses, reliability investigations, and factory yield for a specific product area. The role reports to the Integrated Product Team Leader (IPTL). The PFL communicates and manages issues with the aircraft OEM customer, the BAE Systems operations team, and the internal program team. The role leads the engineering team in investigating and resolving product issues, including the Engineering 7-Step investigation process, and performs direct engineering analysis of product issues. The stated effort allocation is 10% each for customer, operations-team, and internal program-team issue management; 40% for leading engineering investigations; and 30% for direct engineering analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 4 years of work experience, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of factory test methods, including ATP and ESS.
- Familiarity with product and component failure analysis methods, including the Engineering 7-Step method, fault tree analysis, and design of experiment.
- Familiarity with internal parts lists and BOM structure, product design and release processes, and change management tools such as Windchill.
- Experience with product testing and test equipment operations.
- Familiarity with design tools such as PTC Creo and Spice.
- Ability to review component data sheets and perform component selection, select alternate parts, and assess component date codes.
- Experience writing technical communications, such as coordination memos and briefs.
- Familiarity with product qualification per DO-160.
- Familiarity with hardware design and certification per DO-254.
