Product Engineering Manager - RF/Hardware Systems

MatrixSpaceHoffman Estates, IL

About The Position

At MatrixSpace, we are building technology that bridges the physical and digital worlds — combining embedded systems, radar sensing, cloud computing, and AI to unlock powerful real-world intelligence. We are seeking an experienced Product Engineering Manager to work with our R&D, Manufacturing, Operations, and Field Teams to deliver unique portable radar systems for safety and security purposes. This role sits at the critical intersection of design, test, and manufacturing . You will ensure that our hardware systems maintain performance, reliability, and cost efficiency as they transition from prototype to high-volume production. You’ll own how we validate, test, and understand our products at scale —using data, engineering judgment, and close collaboration with design and operations.

Requirements

  • This position requires working directly or indirectly with the US Government in restricted environments. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and may be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance in the future.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience working on hardware products
  • You’re equally comfortable debugging hardware issues at the bench as you are defining system-level test strategies and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Technical Depth
  • Strong background in RF / analog / digital hardware systems
  • Experience with DFT, test development, and production validation
  • Ability to debug complex system-level issues
  • Data & Yield Experience with statistical analysis (CpK, yield modeling)
  • Ability to interpret yield data to improve product design and test coverage
  • Familiarity with GBD/GBT methodologies and setting test limits
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Proven ability to work across Design, Test, and Operations
  • Comfortable influencing without direct authority
  • Proven ability to manage and develop teams
  • This is a hands-on technical leadership role . While you may mentor others, success requires staying close to the hardware, data, and debugging process. We are not looking for a pure program manager or business analyst—this role requires deep technical engagement with hardware systems .

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive product engineering strategy from prototype through production
  • Own Design-for-Test (DFT) strategy for complex RF hardware systems
  • Develop and implement scalable, cost-efficient test methodologies
  • Analyze yield data and statistical performance (CpK, distributions, failure modes) to improve both product and test processes
  • Translate product requirements into robust test coverage and measurable production metrics
  • Partner closely with hardware design teams to ensure testability is built into the product from the start
  • Work with operations and manufacturing to optimize yield, cost, and throughput
  • Debug and troubleshoot system-level issues across RF, analog, and digital domains
  • Build or influence automated test strategies to catch issues earlier in the lifecycle
  • Lead and mentor a small team of product/test engineers , providing technical guidance and driving execution
  • Domestic and/or International Travel – 10%

Benefits

  • You’ll work on cutting-edge RF systems where performance in the real world matters . This is an opportunity to shape how products scale—from early design decisions through high-volume deployment—and to have a direct impact on reliability, cost, and customer experience.
  • Work on cutting-edge technology bridging embedded systems, cloud computing, and AI applications
  • Collaborate with world-class engineers solving complex distributed systems challenges
  • High ownership, fast iteration, and opportunities to lead architecture and innovation initiatives
  • Competitive compensation, equity options, and a culture that values innovation and technical excellence.
