About The Position

The Product Engineer works in Lam Research’s Global Products Group, which designs and engineers etch and deposition products for the semiconductor industry. The role contributes to product development and improvement by applying engineering and process-design solutions to customer challenges and product-quality issues. It supports products from prototyping and development through deployment, release, and initial field support. The position involves designing and conducting experiments, tests, and prototypes to address complex technical problems; analyzing results and communicating technical recommendations; and collaborating with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams. The engineer also provides technical support for installation and for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and debugging complex product issues. Customer engagement includes face-to-face work and international travel to customer sites to support product releases and resolve customer issues. Work takes place in a cleanroom lab and/or a customer semiconductor fabrication environment.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with 6+ years of experience; or a PhD with 3+ years of experience; or equivalent experience.
Exceptional analytical and experimental-design skills.
Creative thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities.
Clear communication and presentation skills.
Comfortable traveling up to 25% of the time.

Nice To Haves

Prior product-design and technical-engineering experience.
Experience designing, specifying, building, operating, and maintaining semiconductor, automotive, aerospace, or related hardware, tools, and equipment.
Experience coordinating and communicating with cross-functional teams.
