Product Engineer — DIY and Controllers

Corsair Memory•Milpitas, CA

About The Position

This role involves owning the New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining engineering for Power Supply Unit (PSU) and Scuf Controller product lines. The engineer will be responsible for schematic and BOM review, providing input on DFMEA/DFM/DFA, and hands-on issue resolution. A key aspect of the role is leading technical root-cause investigations for manufacturing and field issues, distinguishing between process and design causes, and ensuring they are routed to the appropriate owners. The engineer will also review and validate PFMEA, process parameters, and test/qualification plans with suppliers, and manage component and material readiness, including availability, compliance, and cost alignment across the PSU and Scuf supplier base. Additionally, the role requires tracking and reporting NPI and sustaining readiness status, identifying and driving manufacturing blockers to resolution, and acting as the primary interface between Engineering, Planning, Procurement, and Quality. Evaluating factory capacity, line qualification, and manufacturing process scalability with contract manufacturing partners, and building direct working relationships with OEM and contract manufacturing partners are also crucial. The engineer will collaborate closely with Quality on inspection criteria and audit findings, and represent the product lines in cross-functional and executive-facing readiness reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering field; advanced degree a plus.
  • 3–5+ years in a hardware product/NPI engineering role, with direct, hands-on ownership of power electronics, PCBA, or similar component-level engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience owning supplier relationships through DVT/PVT/OOBE and mass production ramp.
  • Comfortable reading schematics and BOMs, and engaging suppliers on technical trade-offs directly.
  • Experience with root-cause analysis methodology (8D, DOE, or equivalent) and driving corrective actions to closure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to translate technical detail into clear, exec-ready status.
  • Comfortable working with suppliers and manufacturing partners primarily based in Asia; some flexibility for early or late calls.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with gaming, consumer electronics, or power-supply hardware is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own NPI and sustaining engineering for PSU and Scuf Controller product lines — schematic and BOM review, DFMEA/DFM/DFA input, and hands-on issue resolution.
  • Lead technical root-cause investigations on manufacturing and field issues; distinguish process-driven causes from upstream design causes and route each to the right owner.
  • Review and validate PFMEA, process parameters, and test/qualification plans with suppliers; push back on weak engineering when you see it.
  • Own component and material readiness; availability, compliance, cost alignment across the PSU and Scuf supplier base.
  • Track and report NPI and sustaining readiness status on a regular cadence, including second-source qualification and PCN activity, not just build status.
  • Identify what's blocking manufacturing and drive the issue to resolution with a clear owner and timeline, rather than escalating and waiting.
  • Act as the primary interface between Engineering, Planning, Procurement, and Quality for PSU and Scuf; consolidating detailed inputs into clear, high-level status for leadership.
  • Evaluate factory capacity, line qualification, and manufacturing process scalability with our contract manufacturing partners.
  • Build and maintain direct working relationships with OEM and contract manufacturing partners; understand their real capabilities and constraints, not just what's on paper.
  • Partner closely with Quality on inspection criteria, audit findings, and issue closure; clear lanes, shared accountability for outcomes.
  • Represent PSU and Scuf in cross-functional and executive-facing readiness reviews.
