About The Position

TechnologyAdvice is seeking a builder-minded Product Engineer to identify meaningful business problems and turn them into practical, measurable solutions. The role works directly with business stakeholders, Product, and engineers across the full problem-solving lifecycle: discovering opportunities, understanding business needs, evaluating options, building and deploying solutions, measuring results, and iterating. Solutions may include applications, backend services, automations, data workflows, internal tools, process improvements, or recommendations not to build. The engineer is expected to use AI throughout research, discovery, prototyping, development, testing, and delivery while applying sound engineering judgment to keep solutions reliable, secure, performant, and maintainable. The role offers collaboration with Product, Engineering leadership, and experienced engineers while developing the judgment and autonomy to own increasingly ambiguous and high-impact problems. Success is measured by business impact, problem-solving, execution quality and speed, and effective use of AI and technology. The role is open to remote work and is located in the United States.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to understand a business or user problem and translate it into a practical technical solution.
  • Experience owning software through implementation, deployment, and iteration.
  • Ability to collaborate directly with stakeholders, ask effective questions, constructively challenge assumptions, and incorporate business context into technical decisions.
  • Curiosity about how the business works and interest in the outcomes of one's work.
  • Ability to work with increasing independence and recognize when more context, expertise, or alignment is needed.
  • Demonstrated use of AI-assisted development tools to improve software development speed, quality, or scope.
  • Ability to critically evaluate, test, and refine AI-generated code.
  • Interest in evolving engineering workflows as AI capabilities improve.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals to use AI without compromising security, reliability, performance, or maintainability.
  • Experience building and maintaining production web applications.
  • Comfort working with modern application frameworks such as Laravel or similar.
  • Experience with relational databases and writing queries within and outside ORMs.
  • Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Cloudflare, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency with Git-based workflows, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production systems across application, data, and infrastructure layers.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in a globally distributed, remote-first organization.
  • Willingness to seek context directly from people closest to a problem.
  • Receptiveness to feedback and ability to incorporate new information quickly.
  • Self-driven and accountable for delivering results.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States at hire in an employer-approved US state and maintain authorization throughout employment; employer work visa sponsorship and support are not provided.
  • Pre-employment screening is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building AI-powered products using LLM APIs, embeddings, RAG architectures, agent frameworks, or related technologies.
  • Experience with experimentation and product analytics platforms such as PostHog or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with PHP, Python, TypeScript, Laravel, Astro, Cloudflare, and AWS.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, containerization, or other modern platform engineering practices.
  • Experience building software that improves internal operations, automates manual workflows, or directly affects business performance.

Responsibilities

  • Use AI-assisted development practices to prototype, validate, and ship production-ready solutions.
  • Work with business stakeholders and Product to understand business problems, user needs, constraints, and desired outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business outcomes by engaging stakeholders, examining data, questioning processes, and investigating problems.
  • Own problems from solution definition through implementation, deployment, measurement, and iteration.
  • Build and maintain full-stack applications, backend services, automations, data workflows, and internal tools.
  • Connect work to measurable outcomes such as revenue, cost, speed, quality, capacity, risk, or customer experience.
  • Use data, feedback, and product analytics to assess whether solutions produce intended results.
  • Apply technical judgment and seek additional input when decisions involve complexity, risk, or long-term implications.
  • Work directly with cloud infrastructure and edge platforms, including AWS and Cloudflare.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve system reliability, observability, performance, and operational excellence.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to high engineering standards.
  • Experiment with technologies, AI capabilities, and development practices to increase effectiveness and autonomy.
  • Develop the business, product, and technical judgment to own increasingly ambiguous problems.
  • Evaluate potential solutions by business impact, effort, risk, and uncertainty; help prioritize opportunities and recommend whether to build, buy, automate, experiment, or take no action.
  • Design experiments, prototypes, or validation approaches to test assumptions and reduce uncertainty.
