About The Position

The Product Engineer will contribute directly to Lam Research’s Etch Product Group within the Global Products Group, which designs and engineers etch and deposition products for the semiconductor industry. The role involves collaborating with customers and internal teams to address customer challenges, improve products, and support product development in a fast-paced environment. The engineer will support development from prototyping through deployment and product release, conduct experiments and tests to resolve complex technical problems, and communicate analysis and recommendations through clear reports. The role includes technical support for installation and troubleshooting, substantial customer engagement, and international travel to customer sites. Day-to-day work is hands-on in a lab and may take place in a cleanroom or customer semiconductor fab.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of experience; or a PhD with no previous professional experience; or equivalent experience.
Exceptional analytical and experimental design skills.
Clear communication and presentation skills.
Comfortable traveling up to 25% of the time.
Willingness to perform hands-on lab work as part of day-to-day responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

Prior product design and technical engineer experience.
Experience designing, specifying, building, operating, and maintaining semiconductor, automotive, aerospace, or related hardware, tools, and equipment.
Experience coordinating and communicating with cross-functional teams.
Creative thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities.

Responsibilities

Collaboratively engineer semiconductor equipment and process design solutions to resolve customer issues and improve product quality.
Support product development from prototyping and development through deployment, product release, and initial field support.
Design and conduct experiments, tests, and prototypes to resolve complex technical problems.
Prepare clear and concise reports presenting analyses and supporting technical recommendations.
Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to guide product specification and development.
Provide technical support for installation and for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and debugging complex product issues.
Engage with customers, including face-to-face interactions and international travel to customer sites, to support product releases and resolve customer issues.
Work hands-on in a lab, cleanroom, and/or customer semiconductor fab environment.
