About The Position

Keysight’s Precision Meso-scale Technology Center (PMTC) is forming a Product Engineering team. Based at Keysight’s headquarters in Santa Rosa, California, the Product Engineer owns a mechanical product family end to end and serves as a key link among the NPI team, process engineering, metrology, and Keysight’s product line. The role calls for a self-driven engineer who takes ownership, communicates clearly, works effectively with customers, operations, and cross-functional engineering teams, and can facilitate technical discussions, solve problems, and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Product Engineer owns product-family yield and quality from NPI handoff through sustaining production, supports customer and product-line needs, and maintains product-family knowledge and production capability. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience, along with at least five years of experience in precision machining or precision mechanical component manufacturing. The Santa Rosa pay range is $114,000–$191,000. Visa sponsorship is not available; employment for non-U.S. persons is contingent on obtaining any required government authorizations for access to export-controlled items.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in precision machining or precision mechanical component manufacturing in a product, quality, manufacturing, or sustaining engineering role.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and measurement of machined features using CMM, optical measurement, and surface profilometry; ability to assess whether an inspection plan can verify drawing requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with structured problem-solving methods, including 8D, RCCA, DMAIC, and FMEA.
  • Comfort using yield and SPC data in Excel, Power BI, Minitab, or JMP.
  • Customer-facing communication experience, including presenting quality events, root causes, and recovery plans to customers or program managers.
  • Ownership mindset and ability to drive cross-functional issues to closure.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and improve product-level yield, including first-pass yield, scrap, rework, and cost of poor quality across process blocks.
  • Work with process engineering to implement and monitor statistical process control (SPC) on critical-to-quality features.
  • Analyze and address the largest yield losses; lead cross-process root cause and corrective action (RCCA), including 8D or DMAIC, when failures span multiple process blocks.
  • Accept NPI-to-production handoff from Integration Engineering and own yield maturation to target.
  • Ensure conformance to drawings, GD&T, and customer intent from first article through sustaining production in an AS9100 / ISO 9001 context.
  • Lead nonconformance and material review board (NCM / MRB) disposition and containment, and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAR / CAPA) to closure.
  • Initiate and own engineering requests, waivers, and deviation requests through approval; provide design for manufacturability (DFM) and inspectability feedback on new drawings and revisions.
  • Serve as the product-family point of contact for Keysight product lines and R&D on technical questions, quality events, and recovery plans.
  • Provide early, factual notice when yield or quality issues may affect delivery.
  • Maintain product-family knowledge, including critical features, failure modes, approved waivers, and lessons learned.
  • Own production outside processing (OSP) qualification.
