As a Product Engineer II, you will lead cross-functional product development initiatives, working closely with Industrial Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Marketing, and customers to deliver high-performance, mission-critical products. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in product development or a related engineering role.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Defense or military products, Tactical communications, Design-to-Cost methodologies, Electrical sub-components, Military standards
  • Strong understanding of product development processes, engineering documentation, and project management principles.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), ISO standards, and military specifications.
  • Experience using laboratory test equipment and supporting prototype development and testing.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in a product development or associated engineer role required.
  • Experience and understanding of at least one of the following is considered essential: defense product development cycle, tactical communications, design-to-cost methodology, electrical sub-components, military standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills including the ability to drive results and accountability.
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications/technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of QMS, ISO, industry standards, military standards, and associated procedures.
  • Hands-on knowledge of standard laboratory equipment, digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Ability to build and test prototypes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles.
  • Ability to work independently within assigned scope.
  • A highly motivated problem solver with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Responsiveness to external and internal customers and a positive, can-do attitude are essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of helmet and integrated helmet systems.
  • Manage products throughout their complete lifecycle—from concept and design to manufacturing and ongoing support.
  • Develop and maintain product configurations, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and Technical Data Packages (TDPs).
  • Create product specifications, validation plans, and technical documentation to meet customer and military requirements.
  • Lead technical project teams, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to specification.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and collaborate with manufacturing to improve quality, cost, and efficiency.
  • Drive Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM), Design-to-Cost (DTC), and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to technical proposals, quotations, and customer presentations.
  • Act as the first-line technical resource for all requests from internal customers regarding Galvion products for the relevant product lines.
  • Influence and own the implementation of the product roadmap for at least one product line, developing priorities for planned improvements in collaboration with broader product and project teams.
  • Develop and maintain product configuration.
  • Participate in the implementation of tools and processes to maintain product configuration integrity.
  • Update and publish technical data packages.
  • Participate in the development of the process for updating and publishing technical data packages.
  • Primary interface with marketing for sales collateral development and customer support for field support process implementation.
  • Recommend concepts suitable for functional, military/commercial applications and customer needs.
  • Update and maintain the Product Lifecycle (PLC) process for designing, developing, and prototyping new products and managing them from ‘cradle to grave’.
  • Formulate detailed plans, develop schedules, and cost estimates for development tasks, and inform management of performance against plan within the company’s Product Stage Gate process.
  • Contribute to the estimation process to develop plans within the Product Stage Gate process.
  • Evaluate, document, and implement potential design and process changes to improve product performance, manufacturability, safety, or cost, in line with company product stage gate process requirements.
  • Evaluate reliability, safety, performance, and technical risks.
  • Coordinate and communicate development schedules or design issues within the technical team.
  • Create product specifications in compliance with customer requirements.
  • Lead the technical team ensuring all technical and customer documentation meet requirements.
  • Work with the technical team, supply chain, and other stakeholders to ensure progress against plan.
  • Create the letter of materials and manage the complete bill of materials through product development, including cost analysis, interaction with finance, and transfer to manufacturing.
  • Create and review test and validation plans with systems engineering to validate compliance with specifications.
  • Ensure appropriate Design for ‘X’ (Dfx) analysis and guidance are provided to the development team.
  • Identify and ensure intellectual property is captured.
  • Serve as the point of contact for internal/external customers on all project technical issues.
  • Communicate technical points between the project team and the customer.
  • Determine and track engineering actions between progress review meetings.
  • Lead the implementation of Design to Cost (DTC) and support vendor selection and overall business strategy for your project.
  • Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Primary technical representative for all RFP, quote, and white paper requests.
