About The Position

Laminar is building human-centric self-driving factories that improve productivity and sustainability. Our proprietary inline sensors, foundation models grounded in physics and chemistry, and process control software enable real-time chemistry reading and control in industrial processes. Laminar Lines use significantly less water and chemicals and run faster with protected quality. Our team of 50 in Somerville comprises hardware and software engineers, chemists, AI researchers, factory operators, and go-to-market specialists, all driven by autonomy, ownership, and a commitment to excellence. Laminar Insights is the platform that visualizes and explains the data from our lines, showing what happened, why, and the savings achieved in time, water, chemicals, and energy. We are seeking engineers who can work across the full stack—frontend, backend, and design—to create exceptional products for users ranging from customers to forward-deployed engineers.

Requirements

  • 1-4 years of experience working with customer-facing products.
  • Strong proficiency in React/Typescript and experience with modern frontend tooling.
  • Familiarity with Python for data visualizations and rapid prototyping.
  • Strong UX sensibilities and enthusiasm for building performant, intuitive, and polished features.
  • Self-driven with a high ownership mentality to conceptualize customer needs and ship solutions to production.
  • An appreciation for simplicity and pragmatism in software development.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative in-person office environment in Boston.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with data science, backend, and forward-deployed engineering teams to ideate, collect feedback, prototype, and productionize solutions on Insights that address customer challenges.
  • Work with different customer profiles to build Insights functionalities tailored to their personas and ensure end-to-end delivery and success of features.
  • Identify friction points with engineers, FDEs, and leadership, and build internal products to help FDEs operate efficiently, achieve customer goals, and understand the Laminar model stack.
  • Deliver polished user-facing features with scalable UI components that enhance the interpretability of ML models and provide greater observability into customer factory processes.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve application performance by adopting innovations in frontend frameworks, optimizing SQL queries, or refactoring backend API calls.
