Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on aptitude
- Experience with mechanical test equipment, microscopes and other measurement devices
- Familiar with safe lab practices
- 3D CAD modeling experience (SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Creo, or similar)
- Functions well in ambiguous situations and addresses issues proactively
- Works well in a team environment, is a “self-starter” and “results oriented”
- Positive attitude, flexible, proactive, and committed work ethic
- Proficient with various software platforms such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc
Nice To Haves
- Associates degree in engineering preferred
- 3D printing experience
- Fiber Optic technician with at least 2-years experience building optical products
Responsibilities
- Support development engineers in creating new products while generating deep scientific understanding
- Build standard and custom optical connectors using both existing and newly developed manufacturing processes.
- Complete mechanical and optical testing to assess product performance
- Perform troubleshooting of product and equipment
- Collect and analyse numerical data
- Create and modify documentation including manufacturing instructions
