About The Position

The Product Development Lead is part of the Energetics Engineering Product Development Team at Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company. The role leads a team of 3 to 5 Development Engineers and oversees the design, development, and qualification of multiple projects. The lead is accountable for high-quality products delivered within schedule and budget constraints, as well as the completion and quality of development milestone gates under company procedures. The position drives rigorous, consistent engineering practices and fosters a culture of root cause corrective action (RCCA), problem solving, and knowledge management. It develops a high-performing, diverse, and flexible team through mentoring, training, and development opportunities. The lead also identifies systemic team issues, improves standard work and processes, and supports project execution across technical requirements, design, risk, drawings, test procedures, reviews, proposals, and problem solving. The role supports customer interface activities, problem resolution, and employee relations and morale as a member of the EBAD management team. The anticipated wage range is $125,000–$160,000 per year. EBAD offers a comprehensive benefits package, subject to applicable eligibility and plan terms.

Requirements

Bachelor's or master's degree in an engineering discipline.
At least 6 years of experience in mechanical product development.
Experience leading functional teams and strategy execution, and mentoring and developing engineers.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
A proven record of delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and risk management.
Ability to interpret and analyze mechanical specifications and data.
Knowledge of electronics design software, tools, and processes.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.
Must be capable of working on U.S. DoD- and ITAR-restricted products.

Nice To Haves

Mechanical and/or Aerospace engineering discipline.
Knowledge of explosive material ordnance devices and/or missile or launch vehicle systems.
Experience with manufacturing processes, rapid prototyping, and/or product development.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of 3 to 5 Development Engineers in the Energetics Engineering Product Development Team.
Oversee the design, development, and qualification of multiple projects.
Hold the team accountable for designing high-quality products that meet schedule and budget constraints.
Ensure completion and quality of development milestone gates in accordance with company procedures.
Promote consistent, rigorous engineering processes, tools, methods, standards, and techniques.
Build a culture of rigorous engineering practices, RCCA, problem solving, and knowledge management.
Develop and maintain a high-performing, diverse, and flexible team that meets current and future customer project needs.
Mentor, train, and develop individual engineers and overall team capabilities, including providing development opportunities that stretch team members and close capability gaps.
Gather and analyze data to identify and resolve systemic issues faced by the team.
Establish, measure, and drive improvements in standard work, processes, and procedures.
Drive and support project execution, including technical requirements review and verification, design creation and evaluation, risk assessments and mitigation plans, drawing and test procedure reviews, design review content, proposal technical and cost reviews, and problem solving.
Support customer interface activities, problem resolution, and employee relations and morale as a member of the EBAD management team.
