About The Position

Product Development Intern – Lab Testing (Lifecycle / Reliability) Summary: Cohu is seeking a hands-on Product Development Intern to support lifecycle and reliability testing in a small, fast-paced lab environment. This role focuses on executing test plans, collecting and analyzing data, and supporting product development teams in validating new technologies and designs.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured test procedures
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems, electronics, or materials behavior
• Proficiency with Excel or similar tools for data logging and analysis
• Ability to work independently and in a hands-on lab environment

Responsibilities

• Execute lifecycle and reliability test plans on electromechanical and/or test hardware systems
• Set up and operate lab equipment (test fixtures, load frames, environmental chambers, etc.)
• Record, track, and organize test data and observations with high accuracy
• Assist in troubleshooting test setups and identifying failure modes or anomalies
• Support Development Engineers with test builds, sample preparation, and basic fabrication/assembly
• Maintain lab organization, equipment calibration logs, and safety compliance
• Generate clear test summaries and reports for engineering review
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product validation and iteration cycles
