About The Position

The Product Development Designer will assist in the development and design of all Britespan products. This role will focus on product improvement by collaborating with engineering, quality, production, marketing and other departments. All employees are to participate in, and positively contribute to the company culture, Health and Safety initiatives, continuous improvement and abide by the Employment Standards Act and all company policies and procedures while maintaining a customer service mindset.

Requirements

Completion of a post-secondary program in engineering design, drafting or in a related technical field or equivalent work experience
Competency in SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software
Competency in AutoCAD
Understanding of part design, assemblies, and tolerances
Attention to detail in the creation of drawings
Self-starter with excellent time management
Flexible, highly motivated, efficient and well organized in order to maintain multiple projects
Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite
3-5 years experience in design for manufacturing
Familiarity with machining and/or welding and fabrication
Experience with FEA Simulation required
Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
Able to work independently and as a team

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of drafting practices, tolerances welding symbols and fabrication procedures
Manufacturing and practical work experience

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of our products and quality standards
Able to design new components and assemblies and create the required models & drawings with a high attention to detail
Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data
Make revisions to existing models and drawings
Assist in the concept to completion or development and design of all Britespan products
Assist in the preparation engineering related documents & calculations
Assist the engineering team with manufacturing and on site challenges
Perform engineering calculations and assist in analysis
Perform FEA analysis
Creative and able to find innovative solutions to real world challenges
Collaborating with engineering, quality, production, marketing and other departments
Ability to meet timing deadlines and coordinate with other engineering and design teams
Focus on product improvement
Other duties as assigned by Manager
