About The Position

Ascending AI is building AI agents that will replace apps on a consumer level, focusing on strengthening user choice and autonomy, and providing tools for users to control AI systems in their lives. The company is tackling challenges in RAG, context engineering, dynamic model evaluation, agentic interaction, cyber, and DevOps. This is a hands-on, high-velocity design role where the designer will own the product experience end-to-end, from initial concept to a working prototype, utilizing AI tools for rapid prototyping and maintaining a high visual standard.

Requirements

5+ years designing consumer software end to end, with a strong emphasis on both UX/interaction and visual design.
A portfolio that shows exceptional visual craft - layout, typography, color, and motion - and a track record of shipping 0-to-1 products.
Hands-on fluency with AI prototyping tools. You can independently produce functional, interactive prototypes without waiting on engineering.
Expert in Figma and modern design workflows.
Proven experience running user testing - you know how to put work in front of users, synthesize what you hear, and translate it into better design.
Self-directed and pragmatic - you thrive in ambiguity and a fast, founder-led environment, and you balance user empathy, technical constraints, and business goals to ship.

Nice To Haves

Direct experience designing AI, LLM, or agentic products and their unique UX challenges.
Strong motion design and micro-interaction skills.
A genuine curiosity about human communication, psychology, and self-awareness - it fits the problems we're working on.

Responsibilities

Own product design end to end - from problem framing and user flows to high-fidelity UI and shipped experiences.
Build functional, interactive prototypes yourself using AI-native tools, turning concepts into testable products in hours, not weeks.
Design intuitive interactions for AI agents and LLM-powered features, handling chat, streaming responses, agentic flows, trust, explainability, and user control.
Set and hold a high visual bar across the product: typography, layout, color, motion, and micro-interactions.
Establish and evolve our design system as the product and team grow.
Plan and run user testing - put prototypes in front of real users, gather feedback, and turn what you learn into the next iteration.
Work side by side with the founders and engineers in tight feedback loops, shipping and learning every week.
