About The Position

Stable Kernel is a custom software and technology firm based in Atlanta, GA. Our in-house product teams work with Fortune 500s to navigate the unknown – that space between an identified problem and a future-focused solution. We strategize, architect, design, develop and commercialize custom software that builds our clients’ businesses. Our growing team needs to add a senior product designer who shares our passion for product innovation. Ideally, you will have 10+ years of experience designing digital products and systems. You will have a breadth of knowledge of what goes into enterprise-level product design, from systems to visuals for mobile, web and IoT products. As a senior product designer for Stable Kernel, you will care deeply about creating valuable, intuitive and beautiful new software products. You will lead product design projects from inception to completion.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing digital products and systems.
• Breadth of knowledge of what goes into product design, from systems to visuals for mobile, web and IoT products.
• Believe in building long-term relationships with your colleagues and clients based on mutual trust and respect for high-quality work
• Fall in love with problems and can’t wait to dig into them
• Drive clarity and definition in ambiguous situations, by knowing what the right questions are to ask, and who to ask them of
• Enjoy being in charge of telling the story, creating the concepts and prototyping the designs
• Have a compelling portfolio of work that demonstrates high-quality UX/UI design work and leadership skills (how to go from a blank canvas to a shipped product)
• Experience working collaboratively with software engineers to ship a product or feature set
• Know how to design and prototype with one or more of the following product software packages: Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Zeplin
• Present with confidence (visually and verbally)

Nice To Haves

• interest in industrial design as it relates to mobile devices

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business goals into software product experiences
• Define and plan a product’s vision and strategy
• Serve as a skilled storyteller and concept creator
• Lead the product discovery process including: planning, ideation, prototyping, testing and implementation
• Create artifacts throughout the product design process including user stories, user flows, information architecture, sketches, wireframes and visual designs
• Build functional prototypes to validate and test ideas and designs with internal audiences, customers or future end users
• Continuous collaboration with product managers and engineers - from discovery to delivery of a software product
• Moderate domestic travel will be required for user research or client meetings and presentations
