About The Position

Nolla is building AI doctors to make high-quality healthcare accessible to everyone. Nolla Derm is a leading medical skincare app, and the company has expanded with NollaMD, an urgent care app, and is developing specialty apps for conditions like birth control and allergies. Having raised $6.5M from investors, Nolla is seeking its first full-time Product Designer to join the product team as a design partner. This role involves owning the design of app screens, from initial concepts to polished flows, and building a robust component library to ensure consistency across all Nolla applications.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of product design experience on shipped consumer or health apps, with at least one iOS app that can be presented in detail.
  • A portfolio showcasing complete, polished, shipped work, including end-to-end flows.
  • Exceptional visual and interaction design skills, with attention to typography, spacing, motion, and polish.
  • Experience building or substantially maintaining a component library that scales with product growth.
  • Ability to take a brief or rough direction and deliver thorough, considered options with edge cases covered, ready for development.
  • Proficiency in prototyping in Figma for pre-engineering testing.
  • Comfortable working closely with engineers and performing design QA on builds.
  • Ability to thrive on fast iteration, direct feedback, and weekly shipping.
  • Experience with Figma, FigJam, Prototyping tools (Figma, Play, or code), iOS Human Interface Guidelines, Linear, Notion, PostHog, and AI design/prototyping tools (Claude, v0, or similar).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing for healthcare, clinical, or other regulated, high-stakes domains.
  • Experience designing AI-native products, including chat, multimodal input, uncertainty visualization, and human-in-the-loop review.
  • Experience building or maintaining a design system used across multiple applications.
  • Experience running a user research program, including recruiting, interviews, and synthesis.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver complete, production-ready screens and flows for Nolla Skin, NollaMD, and future specialty apps, from brief to high-fidelity UI, prototype, handoff, and design QA.
  • Design patient experiences for intake, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, focusing on patient understanding and trust in AI-driven results.
  • Iterate on onboarding, paywall, and retention flows based on usage data, collaborating with the Head of Product and Head of Growth.
  • Design how AI output (confidence, uncertainty, abstention, escalation) is presented to patients to ensure appropriate trust and safety.
  • Translate clinical safety requirements into simple, user-friendly interfaces.
  • Partner with engineering on conversational and multimodal surfaces like photo capture, symptom description, and chat.
  • Own and maintain a rigorous component library in Figma, including tokens, components, variants, documentation, and conventions for engineers.
  • Ensure consistent application of the Nolla visual identity across all products and launch materials.
  • Make the launch of new specialty apps a rapid process, taking only weeks.
