About The Position

Wand makes gaming magical by building tools that help players have more fun in their favorite games through customization and guidance. Their platform supports thousands of PC games, aiming to make great games accessible to everyone regardless of time constraints, skill level, or accessibility needs. As a Product Designer at Wand, you will be a high-level individual contributor, partnering closely with the Lead Product Designer and a team with experience from companies like MetaLab, Palantir, Medal, and Airbnb. The role emphasizes owning problems beyond just the visual design, requiring you to form strong opinions from data, interrogate assumptions, and select the appropriate tools for validation and polish. Given gamers' sensitivity to aesthetics, you will be responsible for driving the visual quality across your designs, ensuring seamless integration into Wand's broader ecosystem while maintaining a high craft standard backed by conviction.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product design experience as a high-level individual contributor, supported by a portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual/UI execution and deep systems thinking.
  • A deep, authentic passion for gaming culture and an understanding of what makes gaming experiences truly great.
  • Active use of LLMs (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) as a core part of how you think and work for research, problem framing, and decision-making.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted prototyping tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) and the judgment to know when a coded prototype serves the work better than a static comp.
  • Expert-level Figma proficiency and a deep understanding of design systems.
  • Strategic product sense: Thrives in ambiguity, partners effectively with PMs and Design Leadership to shape requirements, and knows when to push back to protect the user experience.
  • A builder's mindset: Energized by fast-moving environments and the autonomy to own problems end to end across complex, interconnected systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing high-conversion Growth, Paywall, or SaaS monetization flows.
  • Front-end coding experience (HTML/CSS/JS) or a track record of contributing directly to a codebase via AI tools.
  • Experience in rapidly growing startups during significant expansion phases.
  • Remote work experience, comfortable collaborating asynchronously.
  • A habit of sharing prompts, workflows, and AI learnings with your team.

Responsibilities

  • Champion the Core Product (70%): Take total ownership of translating complex product strategies into seamless, pixel-perfect player journeys within the native desktop UI, onboarding flows, and Pro/paywall experiences, respecting technical and performance constraints. This involves pulling data, talking to players, collaborating with PMs, and forming informed opinions before designing.
  • Drive Web & Growth (30%): Own the web presence and marketing pipelines, treating the site as a tier-one product experience to drive user acquisition and brand love.
  • Think with AI, Build with the Right Tool: Utilize LLMs (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) for research, problem framing, interrogating metrics, surfacing edge cases, drafting problem frames, and stress-testing assumptions to form a perspective. Choose the appropriate medium for validation, whether a scrappy interactive prototype (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) or high-fidelity Figma designs, based on the question at hand.
  • Apply & Evolve the Ecosystem: Design features across the multi-surface ecosystem (Desktop, Web, Overlay), working with the Lead Product Designer to apply, stress-test, and evolve the core design language for native integration.
  • Shape the Scope - Don't Wait for It: Actively partner with cross-functional teams to define feature scopes, push back on ambiguity, and advocate for the player's experience, proactively addressing potential problems.
