About The Position

Ellevation Education is seeking an experienced Product Designer to join their growing Product Design organization. The company is evolving from a suite of point solutions into an integrated ELD platform, and design is central to this shift. The designer will help build the underlying data and systems architecture to connect compliance, instruction, and assessment into cohesive, scalable workflows. This role involves defining information flow and system coherence as complexity increases, aiming to create solutions that feel like a single system. The designer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user problems, define experiences, and deliver valuable solutions. They will utilize various design modes, including sketching, wireframing, and AI-assisted prototyping, and leverage the company's design system, Backpack, for consistency. The product culture emphasizes small, durable, cross-functional product teams that focus on outcomes, user engagement, rapid iteration, and AI tools as collaborators for ideation and validation. Designers are expected to think strategically, be accountable to outcomes, conduct experiments, and design with empathy and systems thinking.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of demonstrated success as a cross-functional designer in a B2B SaaS or adjacent environment.
  • AI-fluent - using LLM-assisted prototyping to accelerate ideation and validation.
  • Design with accessibility as a first-class constraint, building it into your process from the start.
  • Accountable to outcomes, not just output.
  • Run experiments, learn from what ships, and measure success by whether the product changes behavior.
  • Conducted user research and usability testing in the field.
  • Synthesize insights so the whole squad can design from evidence, not assumptions.
  • Seek feedback and confront hard truths.
  • Iterate with users, engineers, and data.
  • Bring diverse perspectives into your process and design with empathy for users unlike yourself.
  • Think in systems, creating coherent experiences across workflows rather than isolated features.
  • Articulate tradeoffs clearly.
  • Engage actively in critique.
  • Contribute to a culture of design excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Shape solutions that feel like one coherent system, not a collection of tools.
  • Work with a cross-functional team to understand user problems deeply.
  • Define the right experience to solve user problems.
  • Ship solutions that create real value.
  • Leverage various modes, from sketching and wireframing to prototyping in code using LLMs, to explore ideas and stress-test concepts.
  • Leverage Backpack, the design system, to create consistent and integrated experiences across the product.
  • Participate in user research and discovery.
  • Contribute to prototyping workflows.
  • Demonstrate how your work connects to team objectives.
  • Own the design of your product area.
  • Work with your team to build effective feedback loops.
  • Own objectives and continuously deliver results based on learnings.
  • Leverage trust to promote design thinking and best practices within your team.
  • Strengthen relationships across R&D to enable cross-functional work.
  • Contribute to decisions that shape the direction of your product area.
  • Feed improvements back into Backpack, the design system, as part of your day-to-day work.
  • Model design culture and values within your team.
