About The Position

Betterment is a leading, technology-driven financial services company that offers investing, savings and retirement solutions for retail investors and investment advisors as well as financial wellness solutions, including a 401(k) for small and medium-sized businesses. We’re headquartered in NYC and offer hybrid NY-based positions (four days/ week in-office, with no required office days during the summer and winter holidays). Betterment’s mission is to empower people to do what’s best for their money so that they can live better. We’re looking for a Product Designer to create compelling and impactful growth experiences that engage our prospective B2B customers and improve our high level acquisition funnels. You will bring creative, analytical, and technical design skills to collaborate closely with a strong cross-functional team and stakeholders across our two B2B lines of business: Betterment at Work, which provides modern financial benefits to today’s diverse workforce and Betterment Advisor Solutions, a platform for registered investment advisors to efficiently manage their clients’ assets. This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees. New York City: $121,000 - $143,000 This job may also be eligible for variable compensation in the form of a company incentive bonus.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant experience as a product designer (previous titles may have been different)
  • Portfolio of extraordinary product design work that demonstrates a strong visual design foundation, positive business impact and experience shipping designs to real people, across web and mobile
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Strong collaborative skills with experience working through lots of cross-functional feedback
  • Experience working in a data-informed test and learn environment
  • Curiosity about and experience with AI tools in your design process, and a desire to help the team develop shared practices as the space evolves
  • Ability to identify user needs and pain points through research, usability testing, and data analysis
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with tight timelines
  • Strategic thinker with a big-picture view of how design drives product and business goals
  • Experience working within established accessible design systems and evolving when appropriate

Responsibilities

  • Design and iterate on key web-driven acquisition flows, funnels, and tools that drive growth, balancing business goals and user needs—owning all aspects of design for your projects from inception through launch
  • Create engaging website experiences that resonate with Betterment at Work and Betterment Advisor Solution’s prospective customers
  • Make informed, data-backed design decisions by leveraging research, sales data, customer insights, usability principles, and site performance metrics
  • Contribute to our design system, ensuring everything we create is accessible, cohesive, and aligned with our brand
  • Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, brand designers, content strategists, product design, marketing, and many others, working closely in cross-disciplinary teams across business-to-business and consumer-facing product areas
  • Help shape our product direction by identifying new opportunities, proposing A/B tests, and staying current with design, industry, and competitor trends
  • Leverage AI tools across your design workflow, using them to sharpen problem framing, accelerate exploration, and prototype ideas faster—bringing judgment to know when and how to apply them effectively, and sharing learnings with the broader team
  • Invest in your craft as part of a talented, supportive design team that values open feedback and works toward a unified customer experience across all touchpoints
