Requirements
- Currently pursuing a BS in mechanical engineering, materials science, or a related field of study.
- At the end of the internship, you must return to school to continue your education or the internship must be the last requirement for you to graduate.
Nice To Haves
- Product design experience (coursework or projects)
- Exposure to working with component modules (LCD assemblies, batteries, camera modules, etc.) and their interconnect (FPC design and ACF bonding)
- Knowledge of materials science fundamentals for plastic, adhesive, metal, glass, ceramic, composite, and coating materials
- Ability to use statistical tools and techniques
- Knowledge of finite element analysis theory and general mechanical engineering analysis
- 3-D CAD skills
- Exposure to Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing
- Interest in Handheld, portable and/or hardware development
- Knowledge of the integration of wireless antenna (GSM, GPS, Wifi) into mechanical enclosures
- Knowledge of the design of audio subsystems (microphone, speaker, receiver)
- Exposure in Unigraphics or Pro-engineer
- Ability to work in a team-based environment
- Ability to be proactive and take initiative
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Ability to work on multiple requests/tests at the same time
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Provide support to design, engineering, prototyping and validation activities for all hardware product lines
- Help to create the next generation of the world's finest hardware devices
- Conceive, design, and bring into production products that will re-define the user experience
- Work closely with many different multi-functional teams, including Industrial Design, Packaging, Safety, Hardware Engineering, EMC, Reliability and Marketing
