About The Position

Apple is seeking a product design engineer to join the Retail, Event, & Channel Product Design (RECPD) team. We are a diverse group of engineers who design and develop innovative fixtures and hardware solutions to unveil and display our products at Apple Special Events, and Apple retail / channel partner stores around the world. Our engineering solutions help elevate and showcase Apple products in magical and transformative ways! As a member of the RECPD team, you will have the opportunity to learn and apply diverse knowledge spanning the design, production, and integration of electro-mechanical assemblies to store furniture and fixtures. We appreciate fine details while also considering the impact and full lifecycle of our designs. Our team welcomes diverse backgrounds, opinions, and perspectives, and we firmly believe effective communication is key to forging lasting and successful cross-functional partnerships.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• 5+ years demonstrated ability in mechanical design (preferably consumer electronics, or furniture & fixture design)
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and command of engineering fundamentals
• Strong communication and presentation skills to technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to utilize data in effective written and verbal communication
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling and workflows
• Ability to travel up to 15% domestically and internationally

Nice To Haves

• Ability to self-motivate and drive issues to resolution across multiple projects.
• Experience working with contract manufacturers in an OEM or JDM model.
• Experience selecting and designing in plastic, metal, wood, ceramics, and glass.
• Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and GD&T
• Experience in FEA and analysis tools
• Experience in failure / root cause analysis and DFMEA
• Experience with electro-mechanical integration (connectors, batteries, electronics packaging, PCBAs, EMI/EMC considerations).
• Flexibility and comfort working in dynamic environments.

• Technology development, concept generation, detailed design, analysis, and testing through mass production.
