About The Position

As a Product Definition Engineer your main task will be to produce and (where adequate capability has been demonstrated) check Component definitions (such as Model Based Definitions - MBDs) in line with Engineering Standards to meet design intent, satisfying fit, form and function of the component whilst optimizing for manufacture. Our Product Definition Engineers will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality 3D models through geometry creation and manipulation, as well as performing tolerance stacks, applying the right standards, and ensuring component producibility. Requirements

  • Associates degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with 3+ years of experience; OR, Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with 1+ years of experience; OR, Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology; OR, PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in CAD modeling (Siemens NX)
  • Product lifecycle management (PLM) software (Teamcenter)
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T drawing standards per ASME Y14.5M and/or ISO) is essential for this role.
  • Highly numerate with good technical and analytical skills, problem-solving ability and capable of systems level thinking.
  • Appropriate engineering experience in conceptual and detail design, detail definition methods and a good understanding of manufacturing techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and check Component definitions (such as Model Based Definitions - MBDs) in line with Engineering Standards to meet design intent, satisfying fit, form and function of the component whilst optimizing for manufacture.
  • Ensure the highest quality 3D models through geometry creation and manipulation.
  • Perform tolerance stacks.
  • Apply the right standards.
  • Ensure component producibility.
  • Deliver world class drawings and Model Based Definitions with clear and correct GD&T and PMI.
  • Work on a team with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and suppliers.
  • Work within a cross-functional team supporting these deliverables.
  • Support the delivery of DD&I Automation Strategy (including Model Based Definition and High Value Digital Design).
  • Actively promote, encourage and support the identification and implementation of continuous improvement (of tools, processes, methods and guidance material).
