About The Position

The primary responsibility is to assist in converting functional requirements of Herman Miller product into a technical design concept and structure using rules within an object-oriented configuration system. This role supports the New Product Commercialization process by coordinating activities with related product database functions and implementing rule changes on new and existing products. The analyst will work with marketing, engineering, and manufacturing to structure configuration models of Herman Miller product offerings and related information, and will manage medium-scale modeling projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related technical field (Computer Science or Engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years as an associate configuration modeler or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with rules with and object-oriented configuration systems.
  • Clear understanding of engineering data and documentation requirements in an engineering and manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of blueprints, item masters, bill of materials, routings and marketing databases.
  • Understanding of Engineering Change Management systems and manufacturing systems.
  • Well-developed conceptual, analytical and communication skills.
  • Must be a resourceful problem solver.

Responsibilities

  • Apply configuration standards that result in accurate, timely and easily understood models.
  • Assist in technical design required to convert the engineering and manufacturing requirements for product configuration into rules within an object-oriented configuration system.
  • Construct and maintain models using rules in an object-oriented configuration system.
  • Coordinate activities with related product database functions.
  • Support the New Product Commercialization process, through various departments and product development to implement rule changes on new and existing products.
  • Manage medium scale modeling projects.
  • Work with marketing, engineering and manufacturing to structure configuration models of Herman Miller product offering and related information.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested.
