About The Position

Majestic, a Bunzl company and a leader in the safety products industry, is seeking a Product Category Manager. This role owns the strategy, performance, and development of assigned categories—including apparel, disposables, and eyewear—for our growing industrial safety business. The Product Category Manager is responsible for driving category growth, margin performance, and supplier strategy, while partnering cross-functionally to deliver strong customer and end-user experience. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 3–5+ years of experience in Category Management, Product Management, or Sourcing within a distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing product categories, including product lifecycle and portfolio strategy.
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience developing supplier relationships and cost strategies.
  • Knowledge of distribution operations, inventory management, and demand planning concepts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to translate data into action.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ERP system experience required.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Process-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment with a high level of ownership.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with pricing, cost management, or margin improvement initiatives preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own product development from conception through launch using a structured stage-gate process.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive positioning, and customer needs to define category strategy and product roadmap.
  • Develop and source new materials and products, negotiate costs, and build strong supplier partnerships, including international travel 2–3 times annually.
  • Drive category performance through portfolio management, including SKU rationalization and lifecycle optimization.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to develop product training, sales tools, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve category performance, customer experience, and operational execution.
  • Support and influence pricing, RFP responses, and customer-specific product solutions based on category expertise.
  • Represent the company at industry events and support key customer and sales initiatives as needed.
