Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
- Desire to be part of a winning news program working with an experienced team of talent
- Excellent writing and grammatical skills
- Understanding of the live news cycle for a local broadcast
- Natural news consumer with excellent news judgement skills and willingness to learn about the market
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Flexibility to work any shift
Responsibilities
- Produces daily newscast items
- Decides the order in which stories will be told
- Writes teases and other content
- Times news programs
- Edits video
- Posts video to the website
- Writes and orders news stories with an emphasis on local and relevant news
- Reviews and rewrites scripts for accuracy, relevancy and non-dated content
- Balances news and feature content to create compelling broadcasts
- Edits video
- Writes stories for the website and other eMedia platforms
- Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites
- Performs other duties as assigned
