Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of experience in broadcast, digital, or cable journalism.
- Experience in the field.
- Ability to conduct original reporting by making phone calls.
- Strong journalistic writing and research skills.
- Ability to complete work under tight deadlines while working collaboratively.
- Thorough knowledge of current events, U.S. politics, and pop culture.
- Willingness to work weekends, late nights, or extended hours as needed.
- Willingness to work in New York, New York and travel as needed.
Responsibilities
- Pitch relevant, timely, and compelling ideas for segments.
- Shoot, script, and edit original videos.
- Collaborate with correspondents to develop and execute strong visual stories with clear narratives and well-researched journalism.
- Build segments and write intros for packages and other taped elements within the show rundown.
- Edit using AVID and Adobe Premiere, selecting the best video and sound for assigned stories.
- Order graphics through template-based systems and coordinate with the graphics team.
- Find and book guests for live and taped segments, conducting pre-interviews.
- Shoot in the field using DSLR and full-frame cameras.
- Produce stories from a desk using remote interviews and available video material.
- Multi-task and manage multiple stories for regular and breaking-news programming.
- Quality check all video content.
- Keep Senior Producers and the EP informed about daily news developments on assigned stories.
- Collaborate with multiple show teams and day parts across NBC News Now and the network.
