About The Position

The Produce Sales Associate keeps the produce department stocked, attractive, clean, and ready to meet customer needs. The associate provides courteous customer service, maintains product freshness and presentation, follows company policies and health and safety requirements, and may assist with deliveries or other departments. Training is provided for certain tasks, including operating a power jack or hand jack and baling cardboard. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• Completed or working toward a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• No prior experience required.
• Able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without an accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Keep the produce department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demands.
• Greet customers, answer questions, handle special requests such as filling fruit-basket orders, and resolve customer concerns politely and professionally.
• Unpack merchandise, clean and trim produce, and stock new merchandise.
• Rotate stock to maintain freshness and ensure merchandise is in saleable condition.
• Ensure products are properly priced and have correct signage.
• Maintain the salad bar and cut fruit and vegetables as needed.
• Assist in building attractive displays.
• Complete necessary product logs accurately.
• Handle spoiled and damaged products, new items, and discontinued items according to company policy.
• Maintain general department sanitation and follow cleaning schedules and department guidelines so work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases meet health and OSHA requirements.
• Dispose of trash properly.
• Help minimize shrink and control damages; report shortages and overages to the manager.
• May assist with receiving, unloading, checking in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack after proper training.
• May assist with baling cardboard or related duties after proper training.
• Cooperate with co-workers and superiors to support smooth department and store operations.
• Continuously improve job performance.
• Use company-provided personal protective equipment, including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
• May assist in other departments.
