About The Position

The Produce Manager is responsible for overseeing the produce department, ensuring it meets sales and productivity goals. This role involves managing inventory, staff, and daily operations to maintain a high-quality produce section.

Requirements

• Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in temperature extremes (produce cooler maximum low temperature, 32 degrees).
• Standing and/or walking at a rapid pace for extended periods of time to perform essential job functions.
• Follows dress code.
• Follows written and oral instructions.
• Follows established safety policies and procedures.
• Works well with others.
• Ability to legibly write or print.
• Possess full range of motion on shoulders, arms, hands, legs and feet.

Responsibilities

• Achieves desired gross profit.
• Achieves desired level of productivity.
• Projects sales, product movement, and labor needs.
• Orders product according to established guidelines.
• Receives and unloads truck deliveries using available equipment and according to established guidelines.
• Establishes daily work assignments and priorities for produce department personnel.
• Follows established guidelines in all personnel issues, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance evaluation, discipline, and discharge.
• Follows established guidelines for completion of all required forms, records, and reports, and verifies receipts.
• Prepares weekly work schedules according to established guidelines.
• Stocks and straightens merchandise and supplies.
• Marks each item with the correct selling price using a pricing/label gun.
• Rotates merchandise according to anticipated shelf life/product expiration dates.
• Performs basic housekeeping duties using available equipment (mops, brooms, floor scrubbing and buffing machines, etc.).
• Operates all required tools and equipment in a safe manner, except when restricted due to age.
• Ensures coolers and cases maintain appropriate temperatures.
• Maintains a neat and clean work area.
• Performs all essential job functions at an acceptable level of speed and accuracy.
• Other Duties as assigned.
