About The Position

The Produce Manager reports directly to the Store Manager at his assigned location. The Produce Manager is expected to provide day-to-day leadership of the Store’s Produce Team while working as a “key” member of its larger, Fresh Goods Leadership Team. This role is for Full Time employment. Buehler’s Fresh Foods is an employee-owned chain of 13 grocery stores located in northeast Ohio. Requirements

  • Previous managerial experience
  • Thorough knowledge of industry trends
  • Attain at least 21 years of age
  • Have a valid driver’s license and willing to travel between our locations as needed
  • Able to occasionally be required to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50# - and occasionally 80#
  • This role requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the profitable operation of his/her Departments, budgets, goals and shrink.
  • Produce Team Leadership and a champion for “Putting People First” Employee Relations, by establishing, developing, training and maintaining exceptional customer service by all Produce employees.
  • Assures proper rotation, sanitization, and is certified in food safety.
  • Communicates well with Store associates, customers, subordinates, and others; works toward a team environment in the store.
  • Promotes teamwork within organization; plans and leads employee and/or small group meetings; responsible for overall morale of the sub-Departments.
  • Provides adequate staffing; supervises labor scheduling; Sets clear performance expectations for subordinates and measures results.
  • Facilitates and monitors employee training.
  • Follows through in a timely fashion.
  • Forecasts budgets and anticipates Departmental needs.
  • Implements and maintains merchandising programs and promotions.
  • Is knowledgeable about Buehler’s personnel policies and procedures, and federal and state labor laws, and sees that they are administered properly.
  • Plans ahead for seasonal changes, holidays, special events and promotions, with particular emphasis on organization and making the most of each opportunity.
  • Proactive in defining and resolving both employee and customer issues; communicates well with Store associates, customers, subordinates, and others.
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned.
