The Produce Manager is responsible for achieving desired gross profit and productivity levels within the produce department. This role involves projecting sales, managing product movement and labor needs, ordering and receiving product, and establishing daily work assignments and priorities for department personnel. The Produce Manager also oversees personnel matters, ensures proper completion of required forms and reports, and prepares weekly work schedules. Key duties include stocking, pricing, and rotating merchandise, performing basic housekeeping, and operating equipment safely. The role requires maintaining appropriate temperatures in coolers and cases, working in temperature extremes (down to 32 degrees Fahrenheit), and standing or walking for extended periods. Secondary functions include maintaining a neat work area, performing tasks with speed and accuracy, and lifting items over 50 pounds.
