About The Position

This role supports the Produce Manager in performing daily operations within the center store category of a retail location. The primary goal is to assist in meeting the objectives set by the Store Manager while ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Treat people fairly, consistently, and with respect.
  • Ensure efficient, informative, and friendly service in all areas according to established customer service vision and standards.
  • Use appropriate language, behavior, appearance, and conduct with customers, vendors, and store personnel.
  • Order according to location purchasing and contract guidelines and ensure appropriate inventory levels.
  • Maintain business relationships with local and regional producers.
  • Participate in centralized buying opportunities.
  • Ensure all retail displays are attractive, product is abundant, and front & faced.
  • Ensure accurate signage, pricing, and labeling.
  • Participate in regular department inventories.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, rotation practices, and labeling procedures.
  • Ensure adequate amount of tools and production supplies.
  • Maintain equipment in clean, safe, working order and report issues to management.
  • Assist in the coordination of department productivity according to store needs.
  • Maintain systems, staffing, and record keeping for receiving deliveries.
  • Evaluate current suppliers and investigate new suppliers.
  • Pursue continuing education opportunities.
  • Participate in co-op events.
  • Ensure carts and baskets are available to customers.
  • Perform various cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Maintain restroom cleanliness and ensure adequate supplies.
  • Monitor cooler and freezer temperatures and report deviations.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures.
  • Follow co-op policies and procedures.
  • Take responsibility for training and performance.
  • Ensure prompt, friendly, customer service as Person In Charge (PIC).
  • Handle customer questions and complaints that cannot be handled by other staff as PIC.
  • Oversee staff in cleaning and maintenance procedures as PIC.
  • Monitor cooler and freezer temperatures and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns as PIC.
  • Carry out established opening and closing procedures as PIC.
  • Uphold security procedures and support staff in dealing with difficult situations as PIC.
  • Ensure break schedule is followed during shift as PIC.
  • Attend regular staff meetings.
  • Maintain open communication links with customers.
  • Maintain an environment of positive communication among store personnel.
