Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent required
  • Previous experience in produce departments/supermarkets
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Able to conduct proper training
  • Ability to supervise the department personnel
  • Ability to understand, read and record department's invoices and paperwork
  • Managerial skills
  • Communication skills; verbal and written
  • Leadership skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Some computer skills
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Vision abilities that include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to drive and flexible to travel to all company locations as required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the center of the produce department to promote sales, achieve profit margins, labor goals, and exceed customer expectations.
  • Follow through training, reports, and supervision tasks, ensuring a properly working, clean, full, and organized department.
  • Oversee department personnel shifts while maintaining retail standards.
  • Oversee supplier invoices and returns.
  • Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for stocking merchandise.
  • Request and ensure proper signage.
  • Train new employees, utilizing all training checklists and materials.
  • Control spoilage/shrink; achieve turn goals and inventory control.
  • Order merchandise for the departments per standard practice.
  • Ensure strategy is reconciled among company direction and category strategy.
  • Determine cause and actions to address and resolve challenges.
  • Create, administer, and measure quarterly budgets.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate department personnel performance during the department manager's absence.
