About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on IT professional to administer, support, and enhance our enterprise deployment of Hexagon Smart Materials (formerly SmartPlant Materials) and adjacent procurement solutions. This role owns the platform’s availability, security, integrations, data quality, and functional configuration, while partnering with Supply Chain/Procurement, Project Controls, Engineering, and IT to deliver continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has experience in Smart Materials modules (e.g., Purchasing, Expediting, Site, Inventory, Warehouse, BOM/Ident) or similar procurement/supply chain system, understands EPC or capital projects procurement lifecycle, and can bridge functional requirements with technical delivery (config, interfaces, reports, automations).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
  • 4–8+ years' experience administering or developing Hexagon Smart Materials (SmartPlant Materials) or similar enterprise procurement/materials systems in EPC, industrial construction, mining, energy, or manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting engineering design systems or project execution environments.
  • Strong understanding of procurement, supply chain, warehousing, and materials management processes.
  • Knowledge of Oracle databases, PL/SQL scripting, or equivalent relational database technologies.
  • Strong Smart Materials module knowledge (Purchasing, Expediting, Site, Warehouse/Inventory, BOM/Idents, Requisitions/RFQ/PO).
  • SQL proficiency (Oracle or MS SQL); ability to read/write queries for troubleshooting and reporting.
  • Experience with integrations (APIs, web services, flat-file interfaces, iDocs/IDocs equivalents, sFTP), and ETL tools.
  • Reporting/BI (Power BI, SSRS, Crystal, or equivalent).
  • Understanding of infrastructure basics (Windows Server/Linux, application servers, SSL, DNS) and identity (AD/Azure AD/SSO).
  • Procurement lifecycle in projects (RFx → PO → Expediting → Receiving → Site/Install).
  • Change management, SDLC, test management, and release practices in regulated environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management (Procurement, Engineering, Finance, IT).
  • Clear documentation, training capability, and structured problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to translate business processes into system configurations.

Responsibilities

  • Administer Smart Materials environments (DEV/TEST/PROD), user provisioning, role-based access control (RBAC), profiles, catalogs, and LOVs.
  • Own environment health: patching, upgrades, backups, performance monitoring, license management, housekeeping jobs, and audit trails.
  • Maintain application configuration (projects, plants, disciplines, account codes, UOMs, rules of credit, workflows).
  • Manage environments through change control: release calendar, deployment validation, rollback plans, and documentation.
  • Serve as Tier 2/3 support for Smart Materials and connected procurement tools; triage incidents, resolve defects, and coordinate with vendor support when needed.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering, solution design, and testing for enhancements, new modules, and process changes.
  • Build knowledge base articles, SOPs, and quick-reference guides; deliver user training and onboarding.
  • Configure and enhance Smart Materials objects (e.g., screen layouts, validations, reports, interfaces).
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards (e.g., supplier performance, expediting status, MTO progress, over/short/damaged, PO cycle times).
  • Script data tasks (ETL, data validation, cleansing) and automate routine admin operations where feasible.
  • Ensure data integrity across master data (materials, parts, BOM/Idents, catalogs), transactional records (RFQs, POs, MRRs, transfers), and reference data.
  • Own/coordinate integrations with ERP (Oracle), Power BI, Engineering tools (Smart 3D, Smart Reference Data), finance, receiving/site, and supplier portals.
  • Monitor interface queues, error handling, and reconciliation; maintain interface specifications and mapping documents.
  • Enforce SoD, least privilege, and audit logging; support internal/external audits.
  • Maintain GDPR/PII, SOX, and project data handling practices as applicable.
  • Drive configuration governance: naming standards, code lists, metadata, and versioning.
  • Lead or contribute to platform initiatives: module rollouts, upgrades, data migrations, template standardization, and new project onboarding.
  • Define and track KPIs (system uptime, ticket SLAs, PO cycle time, data quality).
  • Champion best practices for EPC procurement, material management, and expediting within Smart Materials.
