About The Position

The Procurement Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Procurement Manager in leading daily purchasing and supply chain activities for manufacturing and defense programs. This role oversees Buyers and Expeditors, ensures timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services, and supports compliance with company policies, FAR/DFARS, ITAR, and AS9100 quality standards. This position plays a key role in maintaining material readiness, supplier performance, procurement accuracy, and program schedule alignment. The Procurement Supervisor partners closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, Finance, Warehouse, and Supplier Quality teams to drive supplier accountability, resolve material constraints, and support production needs in a highly regulated aerospace and defense manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Strong procurement, purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading Buyers, Expeditors, Purchasing Coordinators, or Supply Chain team members.
  • Working knowledge of defense, aerospace, government contracting, or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and AS9100 compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of RFQ processes, supplier quote analysis, purchase order management, and supplier negotiations.
  • Ability to read and interpret procurement requirements, drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and program schedules.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and procurement tracking tools.
  • Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, data analysis, and procurement reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment.
  • Strong communication skills with internal teams, suppliers, leadership, and external partners.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify material risks and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Detail-oriented approach to documentation, compliance, purchase order accuracy, and supplier follow-up.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Production, Program Management, Finance, and Warehouse teams.
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to improve procurement workflows, reporting, and supplier accountability.
  • 5+ years of procurement, purchasing, supply chain, sourcing, or materials management experience.
  • 1–3+ years of supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
  • Experience purchasing complex manufactured components such as CNC parts, castings, harnesses, circuit card assemblies, mechanical assemblies, motors, gears, or metal fabricated components.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and support a team of Buyers and Expeditors responsible for sourcing, purchasing, expediting, and supplier follow-up.
  • Assist the Procurement Manager with daily procurement activities to ensure materials and services are purchased on time, within budget, and in compliance with program requirements.
  • Manage assigned procurement program trackers, ensuring data accuracy, timely updates, and alignment with production and program schedules.
  • Support RFQ/RFP processes, including supplier outreach, quote tracking, bid comparisons, pricing analysis, and part/commodity assignments.
  • Monitor open purchase orders, supplier delivery commitments, expedite critical materials, and proactively address potential shortages or delays.
  • Review and track Procurement Review Board actions to ensure procurement objectives and program needs are met.
  • Analyze supplier performance related to cost, quality, delivery, responsiveness, and compliance.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to resolve supplier issues, nonconformances, documentation gaps, and material readiness concerns.
  • Ensure procurement practices comply with company policies, contractual requirements, FAR/DFARS, ITAR, AS9100, and applicable quality standards.
  • Support purchasing activity across commodities such as CNC machined parts, mechanical assemblies, castings, circuit card assemblies, harnesses, motors, springs, metal forming, gears, batteries, and other production components.
  • Track department KPIs related to cost savings, supplier on-time delivery, purchase order accuracy, material availability, and quality performance.
  • Identify procurement process improvements to improve efficiency, reporting visibility, supplier performance, and internal customer support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production schedules, customer deliverables, and program milestones.
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation, supplier files, purchase records, and reporting dashboards.
